I think Japanese games in general tend to lean more onto the cute and anime artstyle making most if not all characters digestible to look at usually they look ok even the most ugly of characters looks fine compared to other games from others parts of the world like American games tend to go more towards realistic and sometimes ugly and hideous artstyle and characters that are beautiful in their own way.

Look at the picture above of grom hellscream from WarCraft usually western games lean more into the badass and cool looking stuff rather than the cutsie and sometimes even childish artstyle that Japanese games lean into , now don't take my words out of context the Japanese can make absolutely badass art

As much as I like to dunk on FF2 for being bad game I gotta say the artwork for characters is top tier the picture above of firion is badass.

Now why im saying that Japanese games have different artstyle from American I mean what does the region have to do with the artstyle? And how handsome characters look? Clearly artists responsible for the game art direction grow up in a society that consumes certain types of media that has certain types of artstyle the artist is inspired by these and grows up to have an artstyle effected by media they consume Japanese usually grew up on anime more than Americans who grew up on rock for example (chris metzen and sam wise the one who drew that awesome art of grom are clearly metal heads) I can't type the artist name of FF games but he was inspired by manga and comics this is visible in his drawings for FF games so yeah its dependant on the artist what he sees as "beautiful" and other factors that play a role in the final art direction of the game.

That's why characters in Japanese RPGs look more clean and appealing than whatever monstrosities blizzard creates when it makes diablo games.

I love Samwise’s art so much.

I feel this position is gonna be relatively popular after all, but I find modern mainstream pop music to be utterly devoid of substance and ideas. I’m specifically writing "modern mainstream" because there has always been great pop music. I don’t view it as a bad thing. What irks me about it so much is that it low key has total contempt for its audience, thinking they only want to consume the same slop over and over again, whereas history has shown us that creative and even challenging music can be lastingly popular and successful. Whenever mainstream pop these days is experimenting a bit with a different sound it’s usually a style they ripped off from an indie artist that will go uncredited and will continue to live on instant ramen until the day they have to give up music for financial reasons. Other than the quality of the music itself the whole pop world eco system is just insanely toxic and predatory. I can’t defend it in any way.

I feel the same over all these schizos who cry like bitches about Ai art while the art they make and shill for is anything but soulful,
There’s a myriad of deep problems with AI "art". Not least of which is the environmental impact the software has. It’s basically just a plagiarism machine that spits out junk and takes away the livelihood of countless talented artists, especially entry level jobs in the creative industry. We’ll feel this and we’ll feel this hard just as consumers. This is a terrible development for culture as a whole.

The goal of a remix is to be derivative. Or else it's a cover.
Well yeah, but I mainly mean that that Mania's remixes tend to be so derivative that they're practically just the original song with better quality. Chemical Plant Act 1 and Oil Ocean Act 1 being good examples. Good point of comparison to both is Water Palace and Chemical Plant Classic from Generations. The Act 2 themes (except Flying Battery Act 2, I really see that one as the original but the synths don't sound harsh to the ears) and the CD remixes are fine though because they're different enough for me to not just see them as "this song but inferior." Not the hugest fan of Green Hill Act 2 though, I really wish it was just Green Hill in reverse for the surprise.
I disagree. And I certainly hope you don't say that because of Sugiyama as a person rather than an artist.
I do not, even before learning about Sugiyama, I genuinely have tried to listen to Dragon Quest music and I don't find anything particularly interesting. I guess I kinda find 5's normal battle theme unique but its meh
Sonic's soundtracks have variety though. If you don't just think of SA2 (and even then there are like 5-6 genres).

Also what millions with catchier musics? Aside from Mario, Zelda, SMT, Kirby, Guilty Gear and so on I just think Sonic is still A-tier.
They do have variety, but a lot of games tend to just have rock as the focus, which I don't mind I must say, but it's there.
(edit 2/19/25 at 2:53 PM on Wednesday and I'm starting to realise that's probably because I only recently played the Adventure era games, later Sonic games Rush onwards are far more diverse, I don't think I know what the fuck I'm talking about here lmao)

There's a lot of genres that I like that aren't really represented in Sonic much. I really wish there was more experimental stuff like hardbass, breakcore, speedcore (come on how does Sonic not have SPEEDCORE), psychedelic rock, bluegrass, heavy metal, etc

Also Blazblue, Neptunia, various PC-98 games, Touhou, Ultrakill, Mega Man, Gravity Circuit, Rabi Ribi, Metal Black, Freedom Planet, Donkey Kong Country, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Ace Combat, Etrian Odyssey, Yakuza, Puyo Puyo, Astra Superstars, and especially Atelier to add to your current examples, there's a lot of stuff that I feel deserves a little more credit ignoring the obvious ones like Touhou, Yakuza, Mega Man, Ultrakill, Ace Combat and Donkey Kong Country that I just listed. I do agree that Sonic music is A tier worthy, but it is not the best in all of video games to me.
While I don't see myself the appeal of Galaxy despite the grandiose orchestra I cannot genuinely say that Mario music is "mediocre".

Especially when even after 45 years some of the older themes like Underwater are still great.
Fair take, definitely a me thing. I just notice that Mario music just doesn't click with me most of the time, mainline at least because I do like Paper Mario and M&L music and forgot to mention that

that's not surprising; it's one of the best "what ifs" from futurama. it's just longer than that episode.

When someone gets mad at you for something you said, they should let you explain instead of interrupting you every time you try to do that.
In my experience, people that do this aren't interested in an explanation, they just want an arguement or a fight. Best to move on and tune them out if possible.

Well, because in their minds they think that the more they interrupt and raise their voice they think they are winning the argument, when in reality they are just being rude and disrespectful. Because in any argument/case it is absolutely must to listen to both sides, I would keep my distance from such people.

Yeah

Now that I think of it, it applies to more cases than just when you say something the other person doesnt like

back many years ago on the net when that movie was announced, everyone noticed the similarities of it and that one what if episode of futurama.
Oooooh I now remember what episode of Futurama you were talking about

I don't get the appeal of romantic relationships anymore tbh. Why would you want someone constantly bothering you and demanding your attention at all times?
I don't think i'm asexual or anything since i'm still attracted to the female form but since i became an adult i have lost any interest in relationships with girls that go beyond friendship or sex.

Being asexual doesn't mean not being interested in romantic relationship, the cause could be something else in your life.

with that attitude, yeah. but you got to be like an anime protag, and fight your way through the depression.

A positive attitude it's not enough to win depression, if it's depression. What people often mistake for negativity, it's usually reality.

Aren't you 15? Dude don't give up too early being a loser is slow torment.

It kills you from inside before it does from the outside.

Hmmm I was told im stupid AF I can't do anything right yet my family depends on me , what you hear isn't always true.

Know yourself first and foremost only then would you know if what this person said is true or not.

I seen your posts in mental health thread and I sympathize with you , I hope you get your things together soon be cool to see it.

The fact that an adaptation isnt faithful to the original work doesnt have to mean its bad (if not, ask Fullmetal Alchemist 2003)
