Hot takes

You not caring for a game's pacing doesn't make it objectively bad.
I did care since I gave the game 20 hours of playtime and I reached level 28 as Hunter.
For starters a gameplay being slower isn't intrinsically worse (or else ARPGs should be sped up to the point of losing track)
If this game was sold as a ARPG then it failed on the regard of its slow pace

Black Flag is the last official good AC game. It only got further downhill from there, minus one exception, but still not worth the asking price at launch.

Rayman Legends kills any of the New Super Mario Bros games. Not Wonder though.

Soul II Soul is the best R&B group of all time. Pretty much all their songs of aged like fine wine.

That's fine, people bounce off of things all the time and you're not forced to like anything.

That said, 20 hours to reach level 28? Did you idle for like 18 of those hours?

Mostly getting lost on the maps, they really don't make them easy to navigate with the warping, that and reading on items and finding out what they do with my little pet.

I gave it a chance, but the other Phantasy Star games I did enjoy however. @Ikagura i do agree that the game although limited cause of limitations was a prototype to a bigger game.

I guess I can see that. I really remember enjoying PSO when it was new on Dreamcast but the time it took me to do stuff is kinda fuzzy. There's a lot of cool depth there once you get fairly deep in, but it's not gonna click with everyone. ::bigboss

New Genesis looks fun but I can't bring myself to play it.

The Chaotix Case Files should've been a video game instead of an audio drama.

Here's a hot take:

Y'all should be more cheerful and open to like more things. Life's too short and horrible to bitch out about everything lol

Oh, and ACTUALLY TRY TO UNDERSTAND AND RESPECT OTHERS' OPINIONS INSTEAD OF TREATING PEOPLE LIKE GARBAGE JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T THINK LIKE YOU

...
and I actually really like Spider-Man 3, especially the Sandman's transformation (still get chills everytime I watch that scene), so good

I generally agree with the first part, but with the second part, not entirely. Not every opinion merits respect. It doesn't necessarily mean arguing with someone about it, but recognizing like, "oh, they post this way because they just don't know yet, do know and don't want to know, and/or are a dipshit." Everyone's interpretation will be different.

I feel like that's the coldest take you'd ever hear from an AC fan.

Eh, it's a hot take to a few AC fans here and there. I had one lady AC fan freak out on me, because I said Black Flag is better than Unity and Syndicate. Granted, I had no interest in either, but the former especially in the broken it was. Though she was more offended, because of my complete apathy of the franchise. She found my apathy worse than hatred. I told her I don't give a damn. I got better games to play. This was a GameStop employee back in 2016.

It wasn't. It was an MMORPG that wasn't turn-based..

Why? ARPGs should not be sold on their speed or else they'd just be glorified action games with stats.

Kingdom Hearts as a series kinda suffered from being more about cool actions in the late game (outside of some post game and the Critical/Proud mode in general) than strategic placement and choosing the right weapon depending on the enemy type during battles.

In fact the removal of requiring rhythm of attacks in PSU (although they re-implemented the just attacks in its expansion) and the fact you could spam Photon Arts with the swords made the combat more like button mashing than pacing (at least with other classes and harder difficulty settings they require a bit more timing).

You have a map in the menu and you aren't getting lost if you check which rooms you haven't been in yet and communication about which items to give to the mags was part of the experience (like when you had to learn which item to give to a pokemon to make it evolve). Of course there are guides online nowadays but many old games require to check them.

It wasn't really Massively Multiplayer as it lacked a persistent world but was more about instances of 4 players (which is fine, it's like Diablo in a way). It has been marketed as a "Network Online Action RPG" by Sega I think.

At that point I wish that ARPGs could learn to slow down and not being always frantic action games with numbers popping out and soft RPG stats for your equipment. I'm not talking about Souls/Borne/Sekiro type of game because it's a different subject but something where you have to physically dodge an attack instead of having a dedicated roll and parry button for once.

I feel like parry as a game mechanic had overly spread to many games because devs assume that it will make a game more skillful even if said mechanic isn't correctly implemented.

Ironic as it was a really niche mechanic relegated to mostly Japanese action games. Then games like Metal Gear Rising and Sekiro made them really popular. So now lot of devs are throwing them haphazardly thinking that's all they need.

There are a good amount of action games that do benefit a lot by only having one or two melee weapons. Granted, with action games like Killer Is Dead, No More Heroes III, and/or Oneechanbara Z2: Chaos, each game does something unique or different to compensate. Though usually, your character or characters better have a good sized or large move set that is useful and effective. Having good to great level or even straightforward level design helps too of course.

Killer Is Dead's main character, Mondo, he only has a katana and a cybernetic right arm called Muscle Back used for melee. Both his melee weapons can be upgraded to be more powerful in damage and to gain new attacks. In addition, his cyber arm can transform into a gun and he has three other forms of the gun he can unlock. Though really, only the first gun and the laser gun are most viable and practical. The ice is pointless and the drill you will use to breakdown barricades for hidden items/collectibles. Once you upgrade the charge punch, the drill becomes useless in combat. Also, Mondo has counter where if you dodge at the last minute, a gun wielding enemies bullets, you can perform a counter shot that will instantly kill them. It is an upgrade you do have to buy. Good news is that you can go to the upgrade menu anytime.

Travis does have a nice size move set in NMHIII, but it is stripped down compared to Desperate Struggle. His beam katana can now morph based on your button inputs, though he can no long dual wield Rose Nasty. He is move upgrades are overly expensive and there is not many compared to what came before. Something I do disagree with. To make up for it, he has the Death Glove that allows 4 different special attacks (you only start with 1 and get more as you progress through the game) that work on a cool down. You can upgrade chips the make the cool down be shorter. He's get fuck everything screen clear, if he let's on the special bar roulette, and later unlocks a super form that has a similar screen clear, if the player decides to use it.

Oneechanbara Z2 allows you to switch between 4 characters (Kagura, Saaya, Aya, and Saki) on the fly, and lets you do it mid-combo if you're good enough to time the attack strings right. There is a rythym to it, similar to the Cool Combos system and you can ever carry over the hard to do Cool Combos when switching characters. Each character has two melee weapons and one sub-weapon. The only exeception is Saya, who has her own dedicated charged parry button where the sub-weapon would be. So it's like having 8 weapons total when combing all the characters together. Each lady gets their own berserk mode and later super mode too. Each one also same magic blue meter with three different styles of attacks. Aya and Saki have a slowdown time dodge only they can do, while Kagura and Saaya can heal faster because they're dhampir.

Oneechanbara Origin is similar to Z2, execpt you can only switch between two characters again, and move set is smaller compared the last game. In place, universal parrying exists by having a dedicated parry button. It's really useful and powerful.

Dante's Inferno does a pretty good balance of this as well, and having an on the fly magic system to support the combat.

Phantasy Star should never left the Single Player RPG formula

Yolk isn't that tasty

I do enjoy Super Paper Mario's gameplay and not just the plot

Bluey's way to tackle serious issues isn't that great

Evil Superman plots are so burned out

Surge is pretty much a female and better written version of Bakugo.

Phantasy Star should never left the Single Player RPG formula.
You mean since Online 2 with the constant online game? Because Zero on the DS, Portable 1&2 on the PSP and Nova on the Vita were primarily single player games.

Evil Superman plots are so burned out.
Red Son was fresh and while Superman was kind of evil he was thinking for the best about the people on Earth without being aware of his action.

Superman is hard to write but I agree that it was overused in a similar manner that Batman is sometimes written to be too "cold" (if not almost sociopathic)... I remember a quote about writing Batman as "The Punisher in a funny suit" if he cannot comfort people in need.

Proffessional help is the worst thing ever made.
I disagree. I think it's good for a lot of people.

Edit- Hot take: two cups of coffee is the best breakfast.

I might have already mentioned this before, but I like both of the TMNT movies from the 2010s. Obviously the second one is better, and a third movie definitely deserve a shot. I already know why it didn't do well, because of the producers overly high expectations. It didn't make all the money in the world, and overblew it on the marketing. If anything, it's has showed me once again how fickle, petty, and hypocritical part of the TMNT fandom can be. You had those that complain about the 2014 movie, because it "didn't take enough" from the 1987 Turtles. The movie took influences from different sources and not just one cartoon. Out of the Shadows, took more elements from the 87 cartoon, but all the sudden the same jackasses started complaining that they were taking too much from the cartoon. Make up your damn minds; you can't have it both ways! For the record, Out of the Shadows still did its own thing and is a huge improvement. The only thing wrong with that movie was how they did Casey Jones, and how some of the human on human action rely too much on quick cuts and shaky cam. All the other action scenes are fine though.

Whenever there is a new Turtles cartoon or movie, you always get these jackasses that whine and cry about it not being like the last one. Not every show is made for you dumbasses. Get it through your thick skull and move the hell on. You had your childhood and teenagehood, now let the next generation have theirs I will say that there will be another set of jackasses and the same groups that complain about it not being like the one from their childhood. Get over yourselves.

I saw the newest turtles movie when it came out a few years ago, so the people complaining before watching, can get bent as always. It's good overall but not my favorite.

But its just talking and talking and talking and talking and talking, and talking doesnt fix your mental ilnesses
In my personal experiences and the experiences of people I personally knew, medicine rarely helps too but this is subjective to what the medicine is actually trying to resolve.

Most anti-depresants rarely work.
(if you disclose that you are on anti-depresants you can get out of a drug test).
But medicine for BPD and Bipolar actually do something but comes with side effects.
For instance Risperdal can have the unwanted side effect of parkinsons.
