I'm not taking the piss here, as it were.... but how is this the one AI thread on the forum that hasn't devolved into bitching, whining, fighting and moaning and not gotten locked?

I'm genuinely surprised, honestly.

Because most of us didn't take the obvious bait, and all this shit needs to be documented and updated, because it 's hurting the environment and people. The ones in charge of the AI scam don't give a rat's ass, unless they can't make that money back or losing on that ai grift they gaslighted themselves into believing would make them all the money in the universe.

As much as i hate to say this, i expect alot of the ones leaving are either ones burned by corperate culture, which are likely either becoming indie devs or just outright quitting, or are ones that are fired over game "quality" aka the ones that were vibe coding their games.

Either way we all knew gaming is heading for at least a recession if not a crash, ai can only postpone it but even that is unlikely at these costs.

A slow industry crash. AI can't even "postpone" it. No matter how much those fat exec bitches gaslight themselves into believing.

No. Kill the clanckers. But realisticlly speaking, the "Ai" we have isn't really an Ai, but a slightly tweaked chatbot in opinion, that unexplainly requires a lot of RAM and SDD/HDD

I use ChatGPT to ask questions on how to function in the modern world.

I think people called out the rather inflammatory original post for being… well… inflammatory and encouraging unhealthy discussion. Now it seems more or less civil.

Personally I’m not a big fan of AI because I like to figure out, research, and do things myself and I don’t feel like I’m actually learning anything if I ask an AI to gather up a bunch of information and relay it to me. Sure it’s convenient but it also has a habit of giving false information that would require me to do research on anyways to validate so what’s the point? Also a majority of AI-generated art makes me uncomfortable to look at, dunno why.

I've already gone through the five stages of grief when it comes to the internet and real life merging together. The increasing presence of AI on the internet feels almost mundane in comparison.

Oh dear, the topic of RGT. It's interesting that this thread hasn't escalated yet because many others who dealt with such things were either shut down or deleted.

The indie and romhack scene will live long past the death of the corporate. As long as an Internet can be made, collaborations will continue.

It's most people with sense here who are keeping it up to keep records and status reports. Unlike the topic creator bowing to their corporate overlords.

Late answer but I agree, implying that not being interested in using AI means that someone is systematically scared of it is just an assumption.
This whole thread has been flawed from the start because of this specifically.

Pro AI people are so often massively pious, so much so that they can't understand why people have issues with their deity.

I wouldn't recommend going into the religious talk but it's true that it sometimes has a "be afraid of The Almighty" vibe from some comments about AI...

Idolising computers isn't a good idea (nor idolising anything to begin with)

don't be afraid of Skynet - 3 billion people killed isn't too bad - just hang on to that fence in the playground and let the nuclear fire pass through you

The worst about Judgement Day isn't just about the victims from the nuclear bombings but from people dying from radiation and starvation.

Dark Fate's Legion attack was less bad at least.

This is what happens when you have a I made by a careless asshole, who doesn't care who he hurts. Cops really might wanna start looking at these people now and laws should be made to have this be illegal when it comes to these type of deepfakes that can harm other people. And those around them.

Speaking of a recession/industry crash, how's it coming along?
Like do we have good/bad news on any foreseeable crash?
Or does this topic need it's own thread? Honestly I'd rather contain the question in this one rather than engage with the OP.

Not much to say about it tbh, companies have fired more people than live in some small cities at this point, so the industry is in a shift, either to ai, or collapse.

I LOVE AI! But my biggest takeaway so far was how much of a greedy douchebag Elon Musk is — Grok (hopefully former) users know what I'm talking about.

The only use case I've found with it is using it as, in effect, an interactive recipe book. And even then, it tries to gaslight me about certain functions on my Ninja Speedi before I have to correct it.

Summaries of topics? Can be useful for a surface level understanding but hallucinations and asserted falsehoods take any real confidence out of it.
Tech support? Going to websites and forums themselves tends to be more useful for actual context.
Other things I've tried? Virtually useless in my opinion.

Do I see it getting better? Maybe. Have I "embraced" it? No. It'd actually have to be consistently useful and correct for that.

Just gonna point to a previous statement of mine.

"AI sucks dick.
LLMs are the only thing "cool" coming out of AI and they have:
Ruined computer prices, driven multiple people to suicide, often give out entirely false information, use a shit ton of clean water, etc.
I can go on about all the bad moral stuff about AI, but I wont, because you already know all about it.
AI video and image is solely for the lowest common denominator, it is an excuse for mega-corporations to give you shitty content while paying their employees less.
I dont see any use for AI in art. I dont see any use for AI in taking my job. I dont want a robot that regularly deletes everything and actively attempts to avoid deletion to be in charge of technology.
I keep seeing 30-40 somethings praise it because it sucks them off by giving them a dose of nostalgia for a "better time" with AIDs and the CIA handing out crack like its candy.
Nobody remembers history."
