Grand Theft Auto 6's pre-order campaign is the strongest on record so far, according to Newzoo.

According to its analysis, around $180 million was spent on digital pre-orders across the US and the five largest European markets during the last week of June.

The company notes that because this GTA 6 is the most anticipated game of all time, its pre-orders could be more front-loaded than usual, but suggests that even if this is taken into account the game could still be looking at around $3.3 billion in sales by the end of its first week, or around 37 million units sold.

"Contrary to social media reports, GTA 6 has not done a billion dollars in pre-orders 21 weeks out," Newzoo's analysis says. "This is absurd. Given how pre-order curves look, nothing ever has and nothing ever will in the near future.

"What the data actually shows is $180 million in digital pre-order spend across the US and the five largest European markets in the final week of June, translating to a global opening week of roughly $260 million, with most of the ramp still ahead.

"Run that figure through the plausible band of preorder curves, and GTA VI is on track to book between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion in week-one launch revenue. Even at the most conservative reading, namely that GTA 6 front-loads harder than any major title in our dataset, it lands at a tremendous number by any historical standard."

Have you pre-ordered yet? I guess I don't understand pre-ordering a digital game except for maybe pre-loading it a few days to a week before it launches.

I love GTA with a passion few would ever understand, but I just don't get how it can be considered "the most anticipated game of all-time" when it's a prime example of the so-called "Carmack Philosophy" — "make the same game over and over again, just prettier every time".

Yep not surprising, the blue moon title is only a few months away now and is the only title worth keeping the PS5 around for in my eyes. i'd happily pay over 100 buckos for this. don't care, I see the long term proposition in this.

No..... and I'm not going to buy it. Period.

It's just the same game, with a bit of script rewriting, updated graphics and the same old same, bank heists, killing hookers, stealing cars, shooting people, mediocre radio music... and more microtransactions than an escort service in Amsterdam.

I don't see why people act like it's the second coming of Cthulhu. It's just a game, it'll be no different than GTA 5, aside from different characters. Ya, ya... yada yada, you can play as a girl. Big deal. Saints Row did that from day one... and it was a lot funnier.

And it's not even the price tag that pisses me off, although that's part of it. It's just another lazy way for Rockstar to make games. They don't have to try anymore, they know the fanboys will break their necks to throw money at them for almost no work. Yes, it's going to be highly polished and look good. I'm not saying they didn't put work into it.. just that, again, it's some rewrites on an already old game formula. It almost has no effort for them now.

It's funny how I went from me at 11 being like "Ohh GTA IV gotta get it, it's so cool!" To me at 16 being like "I would rather get Metal Gear Revengeance but i guess GTA V looks dope, most of my friends want me to get it to play so I guess I should get it..." To now me at 28 being like "Eh I don't care, I'll get Final Fantasy Resonance instead" lmao

i would preorder it but i don't have a ps5, so far it looks to be the game of the year, if not decade

I hope you find a solution, i'm sure you will in time.

I agree, decade (probably) for sure, looking back on how long GTA V lasted and my personal history of the franchise in general, your getting bang for your buck regardless of it being digital, which... people have to get over as it's the only option, period. If your that passionate on the protest simply miss out on the biggest entertainment launch in gaming.

It'd be funny if it got delayed again. But I'm not looking forward to this dominating games discourse for the next several months after its eventual release.

I'm expecting user reviews to be a mess for a long time. I'm expecting professional reviews to be even worse. Nobody's going to be allowed to say it's less than a 10/10 lest they anger the hype hive and receive all manner of vitriol and/or death threats.

This was predictable, the people deserve everything they inflict onto themselves and every bad business practice they enable. I will stick to playing things I actually like over giving Rockstar and their ilk access to my bank account.

To not find ANY value with GTA 6 within this rather mediocre gaming gen is simply mind blowing to me, so your claiming that not ONE element or feature of this insanely detailed sandbox or the upcoming online component (that by the way will probably have another 10 years lead way after launch) does not hold any significance? sure...lol

Eh, whatever, have at it. freedom to choose and all.
The interest via per-orders alone already speaks volumes, that's not changing, all there black and white. Hate or be that minority all you want, second fact of the matter is, come launch day that too will speak for itself and then some.

I like GTA too but... calm down dude

I've got 30+ years of gaming history to work with, nothing GTA 6 offers is worth the price they're asking for because I can literally just play anything else. Just because this game generation has been garbage all across the board doesn't mean I'll settle for mediocre garbage that demands I keep opening my bank account for it.

GTA 6 (and 7 and 8) will continue being inferior to Driver 2.

forever

The genie is out of the bottle now. This only sets the precident for all major gaming companies to follow GTA footsteps till everything eventually colapses.

"Gamers" trully are the scum of the scum of consummerism. No matter how long the developing time without a single gameplay shown, no matter how absurd is the pricetag, no matter how much content gets to be gatekeeped behind paywalls, no matter how offensive are the microtransactions, they will always show up day 1 to buy whatever crap AAA studios give them.

I really wish GTA 6's lauch would go terrible wrong and crashed and burn like we had with Cyberpunk but, alas, everything will go buttery smooth, people will get their game, investors will line their pockets with money, working conditions for devs will not improve, games as a product will continue their march toward enshitification untill it inevitable breaking point.

Yep, and fully expect Elder Scrolls VI/Fallout 5/etc to go the exact same way.

I also find it funny how many of these gamers complain about AI but have no problems supporting companies at the forefront of downsizing their labor force. I wonder how many of these same people will be boycotting GTA 7 when they find out it's made by 10 real people and one super AI. Prediction: None of them.
