im not bothered by people not liking norse era GOW. im just bothered by chuds trying to start culture war shit over them.
its just exhausting and stupid
I'm a little confused here..
You reply to my criticism of "Game Movies" with something about "chuds trying to start culture war shit over them."
Is criticizing the pattern of output from these "AAA" studios "culture war shit?" Because that has been the overwhelming amount of what has attracted virtually
all of the flaming in this thread, like I noted in the first half of my post that you quoted. About the only thing to the contrary was the 'laundry' meme early on, which was funny... and pretty tame. But here's a news flash, rabidly enforcing political correctness & calling people you disagree with "chuds" is "culture war shit" by definition..
Not once in these seven pages has a single criticism been addressed in good faith. Just
Ad Hominem Ad Infinitum with a few Red Herrings thrown in for good measure..
Maybe the average gamer doesn't want "Game Movies;" maybe the devs can be a little more creative/concise with their story telling (Dead Space 1 was a masterclass in this)..
Maybe most gamers don't want legacy IPs worn as a skinsuit to push subversive "culture war shit" agendas..
Maybe keeping an obviously "toxic" character like Kratos– "toxic" isn't a bad thing. Since, after all, video games are a form of what's called "Escapism," aka
NOT REAL LIFE..
Maybe your average person is attracted to "beautiful" forms (show me a single Greek statue that isn't). And no, this isn't just for the "gooners" (always a cheap & lazy deflection), but even babies are naturally attracted to beautiful people and scared of the hideous. Purposefully making things uglier is a subtler, and therefore more insidious, form of subversive "culture war shit"..
Part of what made the ancient Greco-Roman mythologies so timeless & intriguing was that they used
extreme personality archetypes as a character study into the more subtle complexities of the human condition (while still telling a compelling story). Plus, like someone else pointed out, the devs had access to several other Goddesses that would've more organically (and uncontroversially) fit the mold they were appearing to be going for. But awkwardly trying to shoehorn these ancient themes (and that character) into an inherently flawed "modern" form of story telling is the very definition of "trying to fit a square peg into a round hole."
But by all means, just ignore all of this and just default to calling me a loser chud incel grifter, and whatever else, for daring to notice out loud...
