Metal Gear Rising is a Metal Gear game, not a part of the stealth-focused Metal Gear Solid series. Just like Metal Gear Acid games. Most MGS fans don't really care about MGR, its mostly hack'n slash fans.
I guess it all a matter of preference. I don't have any ill towards this game, it's just not my thing. But if like the new stuff, then that's good. It's like the discussion between Resident Evil fans, the ogs thinking that Re 4 original is a downgrade in the series while others (myself included) thinks that 4 is amazing. It's all about preferences
RE4 was less of a "downgrade" for me, and more of a game that felt like a proof of concept with 10 stitched together ideas that happen to work enough and get lucky, then got really overrated and over hyped in the following years. So many games afterward does it better than RE4 for me. Especially games like Evil Within 2, Shadows of the Damned, and RE4R.
Because Metal Gear is a franchise with different kinds of games.
Stealth is the main thing in Metal Gear Solid series. MGS is a part of Metal Gear franchise.

I still have no idea what they were thinking when they came up with that hunk of junk — it was never funny, quirky or interesting, and actually made my playthrough of Borderlands far less enjoyable than it would have otherwise been.
And Rising is part of the Metal Gear franchise too. Deal with it.

Play Ghost of Sparta, if you want to, of course, i would say that it is one of the best in the roman saga. Also if you don't like Kratos, that's fine, he's more like Hulk or Mongul, you vibe with it if you feel like just punching and kicking, but at the same time, you learn to like him in his barbaric ways.

Don't worry man, honestly enjoy it, the God of War games from the greek era are honestly gorgerous and bloody games, yeah a little campy sometimes but nevertheless a great story to tell and interact with.
