PS5 God of War Laufey

I get they got told by execs to brute force feMC. But the least they could do is give us the muscle mommy powerhouse, like OG Kratos used to be.

Imagine them war-made valkyrie milkers.
Why can TLoU 2 get the warmaster Abbadon, but not us? I am so angry I am starting to understand what was going through Kratos' head in the third game. You had one job Snoy.

here are a million games to be played new or otherwise, I don't need this slop. You're the one being nonsensical here, you're dying on a hill you haven't even been to yet, and clearly upset that not everyone wants this new God of War game.
Based on the way you've been responding I'm willing to put money on this having less to do with God of War and more to do with ideology.
HAAHAHAHAHAH!!!Fine if you're interested, but it's not slop (another word that loss meaning and is applied to anything some bitch in a boxstand does not like without even trying it), but if a female being in a lead role bothers you that much. You might as well come out and say it. The only "ideology" is hey we're doing something different and having you play character that was core part of the two new entries, even though we don't see her much in those. You're just making it shit up to be angry about. Sounds like a projection on your part. And you said I was "mad". Then you clearly have no reason to be here, if the game upsets you that. And yes, not everyone is looking forward to the newest entry, but a few loud mouths on social media don't count. Considering how well all three previous games have done, this is going to do well too.

Not bothering with Roy, because he has nothing interesting say, so I am ignoring him.

Wow dude, real mature discussion you're having there about your modernslop movie game which has humanity that no game had before.
You're not adding to conversation at all, and I am not afraid to enjoy a modern game, be they AAA, AA, or indie. So long as they don't try to screw the people over with timed season passes or "live service". I've already stated my dislike with most AAA games, but I am no snob who follows the words of people with axes to grind to begin with, nor "speak nothing, but the truth/tell it like it is".

You can have whatever opinion on the game at hand but there's no need to ragebait each other.
I never intended ragebaiting. all I did was lay out some ground rules and having no nonsense for parroted opinions/made up conspiracy that have nothing to do with anything. Like we've seen with the color purple.

One last thing, because I got some business to take of today and will be out for a long while: but I did have similar feelings with GoW4 got announced in 2016. I was scared, or thought action games would die, and I did have blind hatred from the start. Not helping was a YouTuber at the time I did enjoy and subscribe from (which I had to get away from [thankfully early enough], because he got more toxic and up his own asshole as the years went on) convincing me. Though as the game got closer to release, I realized what I was becoming and didn't want that, and at least wanted to give the game a chance. I did not want to be like the gaming journalist who hated/dismissed anything Japanese or games from Japan. So I manned the fuck up and gave the game a chance on my own terms. I enjoyed the game, depsite its issues and consider both great overall, even though Ragnarok does have some pacing issues. Are there games better than GoW or the entire franchise as a whole? Yes, but that does not make them bad nor lesser inherehntly.

Laufey is already fixing some issues I had with prior Norse games. An actual jump button and looks to be some actual platforming that will happen because of it. I am not saying it's going to have the most amazing or original platforming ever made, but they are improving, and I am glad air combos are back now. I am sure there will be some issues, but nothing to cause a tragedy nor worth having the biggest bitch fit over.

for as much as i wouldve loved that. given how people reacted to TLOU2, Sonys probably worried about certain people losing their shit

Nah. Jill Valentine, Laura Croft, or non videogame wise Ripley from alien. All good examples of a good female lead. I don't mind a female lead at all if they are done right. Maybe this character will be, but based on the team doing the writing the odds are pretty high that it's going to be shitty.

Yes, calling that insult is blind hater and one full of negative bias for a game franchise they hate is doing great. Not my problem you choose to intentionally ignore it and not read between the actual lines.

You got combat in three different areas. Hardly qualifies as movie game. A reminder: this a gameplay reveal is probably lumped together, and a lot of dialogue that we hear might not even end up in the finished release. It's unlikely that we meet two companions and the two seemingly main baddies within that fast starting the game either. It's trying to throw as much vague information as it can within a short time for the sake of this reveal. There are going to be changes in the final game, and we know this. This is nothing new for gaming in general.
I own all of the God of War games. While I'm by no means the biggest fan of the franchise, I certainly don't hate them.

As for the argument that there was gameplay, the vast majority of the over 20 minutes shown was walking and cutscenes.

Based off nothing and asinine speculation. If that's the case, then you should have not bothered with the "ideology" rant to begin with. How about wait until the game comes out, judge for yourself, and wait for a deep sale in your case?

I know who the team behind the product is, and I know where their values lie. I don't need to spend anything to know this game isn't for me.

I know who they are, and I enjoyed most of their writing. Really, my only issues were some of the stuff in Rag, but it did not ruin the entire game for me, nor throw me into a whiny rage. You got 6 other action games, coming out, and nearly all of them are coming out this year in September and October. You've lost nothing

What's her name, the woman who's with the main character of Saros, wrote for this. I can tell. It's got that MCU writing I've come to expect from her millennial ilk (I say that as a millennial).

GoW II > GoW III > GoW 2018 > GoW: Ragnarok > GoW I
(the intro rocks though).

Kind of had my fill of the Norse God of War games but hey glad they're bringing back aerial combos. I'm sure it'll be a success but I'll probably pass on it.

Lmao what? You've been doing nothing but whiny raging all morning in this thread.
You keep saying that, but all I did was point out nonsensical and conspiracy theory bullshit and what I am railing against. Again, you're talking about yourself. I've been in a good mood and interested in the game. I just have low tolerance for made up bullshit, or because a game didn't do what they wanted or blindly hoping to be. I don't make unrealistic nor unreasonable expectations.

No, that's kind of my point. People can't write female characters nowadays.
That's lie, and you have not been looking much. Writing ain't easy, but you're clearly looking in only the one direction. Though indie games tend to get writing of most characters better in general, if story is the main focus.

can't they or are you just not a fan of female characters given you cant even name even one you like since 1996? like you cant name any more than two female characters who happen to be conventionally attractive?

I'm happy for you man or sad about what happened idk. Still not going to buy it.

Maybe it was about killing the main character with golf club in the opening act for shock value, huh?

oh wow, two characters from 30 years ago. including a movie character from the 70s.

gotta any more examples?
Grace (RE9)
Eve (Stellar Blade)
Rivet (Rift Apart)

I don't how much bucks did they roll you, but I hope alat shilling was at least worth it.
Now get yo chaos ahh back to immaterium.

You caught me dude

Modern games with good female writing:

  • Nier Automata
  • Oneechanbara Origins
  • Street Fighter VI - Play their arcade modes or bond with them in World Tour mode. They got some deep stuff going on.
  • Hi-Fi Rush - Even though Chai is the main character, none of the female characters who play huge supporting roles are written poorly, nor the men either.
  • Both Norse GoW games. Yes, Freya can be up her own ass at times, but at least she gets called out on it several times in Ragnarok.
  • Ghost of Tsushima and Yotei.
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Resident Evil 8 and Shadow of Rose DLC
  • Resident Evil 9
  • Silent Hill f
  • Celeste
  • Sayanora Wild Hearts
  • Gris
  • Assemble With Care
  • Eliza
  • 1000XResist
  • Penny's Big Break Away
  • Signalis
  • Crow Country
Sounds like some people have only been looking in the one direction or blinded by hate and not giving games an actual chance, and rely only highly dubious second hand opinions.

Nier Automata is still modern game, and people still play it and praise it today. Deal with it. I say this, and I was finished with it after getting the true ending back in 2017. All it does it show how good the game is from a writing standpoint, and is still more recent than the 30 years old examples, Roy.
you just ignored ALL the other more recent examples. at least nier is more recent than Tomb Raider
Funny how he does that to make is "argument" more sound. He basically either didn't play these or only knows through secondhand. I didn't every single game on the list, but I am more than familiar with their positive reputations at this point.

One thing I strive to never do on RGT is be bad faith. I see this as the one place online I've found where bad faith isn't a core mechanic. If you could, please tell me what I said that is bad faith in my response.
Just because I said I thought the in-game model looked ugly you automatically assumed it was because I didn't want to fuck her. :loldog A bad design is a bad design, there's more than one way to make a character appealing to look at, let alone a female one. You also assumed I was talking about the entire modern game industry, when my criticism was directed specifically at Sony. I do apologized for linking that specific tweet though, I was not familiar with who they where and just wanted a comparison picture.

i think blands a better word than ugly. aside from the armor, she doesnt stand out compared to others.

tbh im so fucking tired of this debate over and over again.
Not every character regardless of gender needs to be a perfect supermodel. the female designs people keep complaining about look average at worst and there are plenty of women out there who look like them.

And I still play nethack, which got last official patch just last month, even tho this game is older than your mother. It don't mean much.
All it means that fossils are still just fossils no matter what cope you heard in a jurassic park.

you just ignored ALL the other more recent examples. at least nier is more recent than Tomb Raider
Next game listed is from 7 years ago. Great improvement.
