I of course hate curse words unless when I am playing then I throw them around like hot potatoes,but still I want to ride the high horse here the sight is much more enjoyable this way.

What's interesting is that we now live at a time in which just going back to the old thing may not even be possible anymore. It's the worst of both worlds.
Don't know what I would have to do impress you. That doesn't bother nor concern me. So long as you're having a good time with the game you play, that is all that matters in the end. So how is that Halo playtrhough going?

Depends on which old games you're talking about, as that's the case for a lot of games that are online only and the servers are down, or lots of DLC/digital games got delisted for one reason or another. Or because MS gave up with XBOX, and lots of XBLA games got removed forever. Some survived on Steam or got ported to 8th-9th gen consoles, but that is still a lot of games lost forever, unless they have a physical version.

Notice how it's mostly Activision and Ubisoft who pull this bullshit? Mainly Western AAA devs or publishers. The Japanese have their moments too, but Western big pubs/devs suffer from this way more than the Japanese, small/smaller indie devs, AA, or Valve. We got GOG as well, so it's not the end of the world.
Also, OverWatch was never worth my time and the character designs are wasted on an FPS, and The Crew I always found mediocre of a racing game. Thank God indies have been keeping arcade racers alive, and the new Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Screamers look much more interesting and have actual visual identities other than "realism". These games are much more single player focused, and not "live-service" garbage. Multiplayer/Multiplayer only games suffers from these shutdowns more than single player/offline games.
The first game you might to just watch a playthrough, or only play 2/3 before the squid aliens show up. After that, YouTube the rest and jump straight into Crysis 2.
One GENUINE problem I have with modern games - and what actually earns them the 'slop' adjective - is needless redesigns, especially when they don't improve the base experience at all.
So many remakes just oversimplify everything for no reason at all and it pisses me off so much.
Not that many of them. Also, try out some of Tengo Project's remakes. Ninja Saviors, Shadow of the Ninja, and Pocky n' Rocky Re-shrined. Dead Space Remake didn't over simply anything either.
I never count steam when I am speaking of this stuff, and yes I have, and yes, it's 80% slop on there.
I only play classics on my laptop though and you'd be right, I do sound like I haven't browsed steam.
I will say I haven't had a random browse of steam, I've always known what I was looking for on steam so I never had a random browse, and I don't plan to.

The UIs and inventory screens..so many are just plain rectangles and bubbles! Same with title screens and intros..
They still exist but they’re no longer the norm
yeaaaaaaaaaa i prob should've noted that as well, like I'm in the minority of Gen Z that doesn't care for AAA games. At the end of the day, FIFA etc. are the real money makers.
We must remember we're in a bubble on the internet. The numbers are what really speak, and they speak that Gen Z is not indeed rejecting modern AAA games. I mean, the thumbnail of that vid is complaining about RE Requiem when its been called one of the best in the franchise by most reviewers, whether Gen Z or not.
I was speaking in hyperbole, but I think enough gen z got sick of modernslop to make up a moderately sized demographic
Something I never expected and that brought a smile to my face. I remember dismissing them as "oh they just know fortnite and cod", but quite a few knew ps1-2 through youtube and either emulate and buy collections

This is a major 50/50 thing to me. I'm not at all fond of most remakes primarly because they dumb down the difficulty. Not just modern games either, also older games have editions of titles that are much easier than the originals such as Dragon Quest 1, 2, 3 ect. The SNES vs. the original NES versions. Today I hear about remakes and how they introduce, "Quality of Life" features that the originals didn't have, but they turn out making the games much easier. This is really just my opinion and I find more fun in challenge. To be completely honest, I have very few modern titles on my Steam account and most of them are survival games like Dying Light.
What I prefer though is older games, mostly PC RPGs, such as Dungeon Siege, Dungeon Lords CE, Sacred Gold ect. I also prefer a lot of console RPGs too. Steam used to be a client I would turn to for newer titles but unfortunately it's store is flooded with early access by developers who expect people to wait a lifetime for them to complete their games. That, or they just plain abandon their projects.
Last, if a modern game is too heavy on political stuff, I would avoid it because I don't like how mean people have become over them. I rather give a person a hug rather than question their views in life. Being human is already hard enough.
I feel you on the quality of life, I heard form a younger guy FF7 on ps4/5 has a button that gets you insta limit break. So it lets you skip the game pretty much, whats the point in that? Man today's SE must think pretty low of the games that made it famous

On the flip side, I think modern compilations have gotten way better
All of the capcom fighting collections have rollback and training modes, their emulated releases are also great
Most emulated releases all have rewinds and save states and fast forwards and less input lag that they used to
STG collections got waaay better, theres a few stinkers like the gunbird games on switch, but for the most part they can be comparable to the dodonpachi dai jou port on ps2
Back in the ps2 games it was random which ports were gems and which were coal. Theres the stuff by M2 which had every resolution mode and extra version possible, and there was the laggy bare minimum that forced the game at 480i
The one for clock tower had a real nice interface and extras..but inexplixably no fast forwards in what is a slow ass game
Most importantly they finally understood tube tv filters are a must or the game looks like ass, I cant believe it took em this long to realize this but better late then never
