In most places, most things are better than they were, especially video games, most games, like 80% of the snes/genesis era and earlier was pure thrash, that has gone down to like maybe 20% being pure thrash, a good 80% of games are playable and actually function and can be finished, the baseline for good has massively risen since then too.

Agree there where many gems for the Mega Drive and SNES not sure what people are talking about and sure their was a lot of trash but also a lot of good games otherwise Gen Z with zero nostalgia to those games would not give a shit about them,but instead many Gen z folks like them and want to experience them since they are so good.

I feel that's an entire separated issue, though... 'Bitching Culture' IS a thing and SHOULD be ended, but so many modern games try to be both epic, deep and grandiose while delivering to what amounts to middle-school-level writing or glorified walking simulators which rehash the same two-three tired tropes when they could be so much more...

Most in the [Western] AAA(A) space. Modern indie and AA on the other hand actually has our act together and just wants to make fun games or out there experiments or crazy weird that is not "marketable" on a large and impossible scale with constant goalposting.
