i hate this fucking game. im probably ass at this game but i have been grinding this guy for 30 minutes now. how. i dont believe that you cant kill him. its insane.
the controls are horrible. he randomly teleports as well. you can hit him in the back but then he can randomly teleport behind you and shave off like 1/3rd of your hp bar. theres a long input buffer as well and it just doesnt allow for a proper battle where you need to adapt to your opponents moveset. i see his back is exposed but ive mashed a button so much my character is still hitting him and not letting me perform another action. sometimes i feel like the character is doing something on their own, or the random teleporting gets so bad i genuinely get confused and lost because i was sure that i was doing action a but all the teleporting messed everything up so much the character is doing action b. also hitboxes. i dont understand where i need to attack this guy and when. the character youre playing as can also get randomly hit without any sound or animation playing so its hard to tell when youre getting damaged. its so confusing.
im probably trying to compare this to dark souls or something. im so used to polished souls-like battles so games like this are genuinely confusing to me. im used to perfectly timing my attacks and the ds3 input buffer but then i remember that this is a ps1 game. it doesnt care and im overthinking it and im rather dumb for grinding it so much. but at least the music is quite good as well as character design.

as on the game itself - i wish it was more detailed than this. im so used to ff games being all detailed and having this detailed amazing plot and interesting dialogues and having these neat little hidden items and easter eggs (you can say im spoiled) so seeing a game this uhh.. empty?? feels a bit weird. the enemy spawn rates are a bit weird - how do you progress when the enemies just spawn endlessly? id imagine there would be a limit to how much an enemy can spawn but you can just stand at one spot and fight off enemies for like a minute+ in this game. also feels much more 'japanese' than i expected, not complaining though.

threads of fate (retroarch, swanstation, pc)

Rod can be beaten, it just takes forever. The more you beat him, the more he uses different weapons.

I like the way Threads of Fate looks, it reminds me more of Mana than Final Fantasy.

Edit- And I do recall one Final Fantasy easter egg at least, and it involves a sidequest you do for Rod actually.

oh thank you ! im forgetting that people on here like playing obscure (i dont think its obscure, just havent seen people talk about it) games. yea i figured out that you can beat him and that it will take me forever. i almost got him once but i died.
i tried to apply the dark souls framework to our battle like dodging and timing my attacks properly and hitting him when he is the most vulnerable and then retreating as to not get caught in his chain attacks and memorizing his moveset and memorizing damage patterns (since its hard to tell what attacks cause damage and where his hitbox is, since you can be standing UNDER him and his sword and you can still die). i failed miserably and realized that this is not a souls-like game and its too early in the game for me to try to get him. its easy to get him down to the last 1/8th of his health but the ai gets much more aggressive. anyway i WONT be trying to kill him, im kind of fed up.

i wish i could have played mana though. i remember there was a mana game on a mini snes i got in 2018 but i think i considered it boring ? or something, so i havent played it. and ill make sure to look for that ff easter egg. i love easter eggs. its just that this game has so much 'item hiding' potential but for now ive only seen bronze/silver coins.

For the most part, that's about all you'll find, BUT, there are some key items hidden around that you can use for quests.

I like Rue's route the best. It's just awesome.

ill give it a try! i wanted to go with mint first since i heard that its more whimsical and more light, i didnt want anything heavy or emotional. after im done with mint ill try to play through rue then :)

also, not sure if i can ask for help in this thread, but do you perhaps know how to break the last ice block?
i have been farming mp so that i have enough to break all three of them (and since i dont think theres a way out of the dungeon anyway, this seems like the only exit) but maybe i got it backwards or something? im very much confused on what to do. went from 86 to 100 mp but its still not enough and i cant seem to melt it.

You need 110 MP to get through it.

I'm on GTI Club Supermini Festa. It's a fun arcade game. But I'd really wanted to play GTI Club: Corso Italiano. I love the chaotic off-the-rails experience of that title! But it's a pain to get it to work outside the arcade!

I also have Radikal Bikers to tide me over.

I'd like to start playing Final Fantasy X... this time, however, in a rather particular way, xDView attachment 192969
So, my wife now knows that FF-X in Italian is a thing, so, thanks for that impending 40 hour trek in FF-X in Italian, you jerk. (The PS2 era did give us a lot more stuff in Italian. I mean the pre-GC RE's didn't have Italian, sadly. I'm still trying to find that fan patch of the original RE1 /rant sorry. Also I don't speak Italian myself, but I don't need Italian to push buttons, yay.)

As for what retro games I'm playin', Countdown Vampires and TLOZ Minish Cap, woo.

I feel sorry for you xD

Now that you mention it... I didn't know Resident Evil for PS1 never had an Italian translation. Many games in Italy came with translated covers and manuals, so I always thought the game had been localized... but it was just a translation patch.

Other games that deserved an Italian translation never had one, excluding translation patches or remakes released over the years (Persona 3 and 4, Final Fantasy VII, Parasite Eve, the first Medal of Honor, etc.)

If you Google it, you'll find a translation patch for the French version of the first Director's Cut chapter. I recommend you try it, it's awesome!

Top Hunter Neo Geo CD

Charming little gem that i didn't even know about until I caught a Japanese Vtuber i'm subbed to play it on stream.

Saints Row 1 (I don't care the game is 20 years old already) and Sonic Adventure with BetterSADX.

If I actually spoke French, it might be of some use. XD.
Wife speaks Italian, likes to make sure to be around the language as much as possible, so it's not really an issue for me. I've picked up quite a bit by osmosis, but I don't know anything about Italian grammar or anything.

Would you mind if I were to send you a DM? I'd like to not go off topic too much here, but it's also not nice to just drop in on someone unannounced,I feel, so I thought I should ask first.
