I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO PLAY!!

I usually like to have two games I'm playing at a time. One multiplayer game I only touch when I'm with my friends, and one singleplayer game I play when I'm in a gaming mood and alone. The rest of the time I spend working or doing my other non-videogame related hobbies. But I'm sitting here at 2 AM on a weekday having finished The Minish Cap and with no idea what my next singleplayer game should be.

I'm leaning towards replaying Salt & Sanctuary, but that game is quite difficult and I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for something very challenging. There aren't any retro games I'm interested in playing, and I don't want to spend my time doing anything else.

So I'm stuck! Stuck with this weird predicament where I have all the games, but no games...

Been playing Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on the Switch.

I'm playing Raw Danger on PS2. It's like... I dunno... a survival horror game about natural distasters? There isn't really combat or anything - you just kinda walk around cities that are falling apart and flooded and whatever else and look around for items and help people on your way through. WAY more engaging and enjoyable than I expected it to be.

I'm also playing through the Mega Man Zero games again. I think the first one is quite good, and I LOVE 2, 3, and 4.

this game is so cute! i never know if it's difficult or i am bad

what i'm playing recently is, finally, Earthbound! I laugh a lot and love the visuals.

Earthbound is such a vibe. I might switch to it in a sec, I hit a wall fifteen hours into Mother 3 and I'm thinking maybe I should play EB to completion first.

ATM I am playing Link's Awakening on Gameboy (mainly because I fixed my original screen). I'm still trash at this genre game but gradually getting the feel for it and not having to look at guides too much.

Summer is Gameboy weather because it's the only screen that looks good in the sun, so on my crystal purple color I'm playing a repro cart of Pokemon Yellow which I mainly got so I could trade and evolve my Gengar from Red. Yellow is really cute and cool as fuck, I love the lil anime references in the sprites and I had no idea you could get all the starters in gen 1 just walking around and talking to people!

On GBA I am playing Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, Julius Belmont run, mainly because he's hot. The game is pretty cool. The colour restoration rom hack in some ways does not look as fire as the original but it's cool in its own way.

On original DS I am playing The World Ends With You and Sonic Rush. TWEWY is genuinely so fascinating, great music, incredible combat system, I can see why it's so beloved. Sonic Rush is pretty cool too, I really like that it saves at boss encounters so you don't have to replay act 1 and 2 if you die on the boss. The music is also fucking iconic. Shoutouts 4 out of the 5 composers who are not creeps.

On PS2 I am playing through Lara Croft Tomb Raider Legend. It's genuinely exactly what I want out of a Tomb Raider game, it's campy, it's silly, it's lowkey kinda Brats coded. The platforming sections are hella fun, the puzzles are cool once you get the hang of what the developers are trying to do. It's brimming with vibes. I tried replaying 2013 when it ported to Switch and man it still feels exactly as wrong as when I tried at at launch, really slow, Lara is de-yassified in an attempt to make her more realistic but it's weirdly more sexist than the old games because she's constantly under the threat of sexual violence and there's like, no female characters for her to engage with? So it's really fun and suprising how good Legend holds up by comparison. There are loads of cool female characters, the game passes the Bechdel test in literally the opening cutscene -- her big motivation is the death of her mum not her father's research which feels super overplayed especially in the new movie -- and there's a female villain who's an absolute diva. This is kinda shaping up to be one of my favourite games of its era (sorry Legacy of Kain and JSRF). Would really recommend it if you've slept on it.

On PS1 I am playing the Dr Slump fantrans. It's really cool to see Toroyama's style so faithfully adapted into boxy 3D graphics. Fun lil game.

I was also playing through Sonic 3 and Knuckles recently but my cart wiped all my saves when I was more than half way through so I live in regret forever.

And on Steam Deck I'm playing MINA THE HOLLOWER! Hell yeah this game shreds. Great at teaching the mechanics through play (though I did have to use a guide before the third boss because there was a move I didn't know was possible and I ended up backtracking). So glad its out finally, it's really been worth the wait.

Yesterday i resume playing games on my PC, began with Syberia 1: i love the immersive experience full of great architecture and music, and the plot intrigues me a lot. I remember playing the second game decades ago, but this time i was eager to play the first (i promise to take some screenshoot the next time i play).

I'm currently (trying to) play FF6 gba version.
I spent an hour trying to get rid of the white screen in Twilight and it looks like I did it, but now it's too late to play. I can't wait for tomorrow, I think it's finally time for me to enjoy this game for the first time.

I loved both 1 and 2, great choice. Have fun!

I was going to post about this inbetween sessions but I was so busy actually playing the game that I beat it in 2 sessions across 2 days a little bit earlier than I expected. I love Salt & Sanctuary. You should play it. Your friends should play it too. Everybody should play Salt & Sanctuary. It's the best.

I built poison and whips in the forest creed; I never thought about how good poison could actually be in a soulslike game if the developers just let cool things be cool. But Salt & Sanctuary is cool, so all of the cool things are cool.

You should play Salt & Sanctuary.

I started playing Trails in the sky 1st chapter. I got it on steam on the summer sales
it's my first time playing a trails series game, I wanted to play the original but many people recommended me this version. I'm enyoying it so much already

Just started up Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga today. I remember liking Super Mario RPG (never beat it though lol, I was a kid... should try it again) but I'm not much a JRPG guy at all... That said, holy shit this game is fun lol

Probably because there's a bit more stuff to do in the combat (dodging and you can actually control crits to some extent) and the encounters aren't random (random encounters and turn-based combat combined is the bane of my existence), and because it's Mario. It's not some massive world ending event, it's a humorous low-stakes goof fest that just feels good to play. Hopefully I continue to feel this way through the whole game, and if so I'm gonna have to check out all of other Mario RPGs.

Changed my mind (but FF6 remains in my backlog, also I've bought a magazine in my language that's all about the history of Final Fantasy so I can't skip a legendary game like it).
Another title that's waiting since a long time is "Alliance Alive" on 3ds, I've decided to play this one. For now, I think I'll go on with it.

Finally picked up Final Fantasy VII after years of putting it off!

When I downloaded 7th Heaven and put the archaeology patch holy fuck it was night and day, everything just made sense thank god for the people who actually cared and retranslated the thing, it felt very sloppy and most of the time it kinda didn't make sense.

Changed the laser in my PS2 Slim, so I'm currently playing with that a lot. Currently Ratchet: Gladiator (Deadlocked outside of Europe) and Gran Turismo Concept 2002 Tokyo - Geneva. Got them both for 15€ together a couple of days ago. Both still great if anyone was wondering.

Normality on DOS. It's funny and interesting, but a little frustrating in that "what the fuck am I supposed to do" way. I've had to check a guide once or twice and I was like, yeah, I wouldn't have figured that out in a hundred years on my own. I'd rather it make me feel like an idiot for not figuring it out rather than validating my use of a walkthrough with a ridiculous esoteric solution nobody would have guessed. (Couldn't it have given me a hint that the bouncer was afraid of mice instead of expecting me to guess that he might be?)
