I'm playing Pokemon Blaze Black 1 on my DSi XL.
Pokemon Black has aged extremely well. It almost feels like the perfect Pokemon game. Unfortunately the mons in gen V are not the best, so I figured I'd play a rom hack that adjusts the available mons and difficulty.
So far, it's actually quite tough for me, mainly because I never really learned type match ups as a kid so I'm kinda winging it. The modified enemy teams actually require thinking from me, which is really refreshing. The fact that trainers tend to have 4+ mons is great.
As for the core Black experience, the story is really thought provoking now that I'm a little smarter and can read more than two words. The two best friends to your stump of an MC are opposites, one completely sure of himself and what he wants, and the other shaky and hoping to find out, and while you all want to catch pokemon and experience the world, the villain team wants to liberate them. Who is right?
Really crazy thematic story telling for a Pokemon game, and I am here for it. A shame they murdered their scenario writer or something and went with some other schmuck for subsequent entries...
The music is GOATED btw :)
