games that every one hate's but you don't hate.

Apparently it was Pokemon X/Y
I was being told how 'it's the worse core series' at the time it was out.
I actually enjoyed the gameplay and new aspects like mega evolution and character customization.
Though I think I kinda get where the dislike was coming from, could have had a better story honestly.

Damn ... from what I read though ... if AZ really was meant to be the true antagonist of the game ... !! That would've been a better story !!

But yeah overall I thought it was fun ! I don't really think there really was a *bad* core Pokemon game I haven't played yet ... then again I stopped at Gen 7 since ... no time anymore focus my spare time on later Gens

I actually really love The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. The music's very good (same composer as Breath of the Wild's), the graphic's bright and colorful, the gameplay's simple but effective, the puzzles are very creative (especially the ones that involves Phantom Zelda), the plot is full of cinematic cutscenes, and the main characters are memorable. My only complain would be the train section when traveling the world map, it's just too slow and quite a chore. In Phantom Hourglass, traveling the world map is much faster since you are given free direction on where to go, and you can teleport anytime anywhere using the Cyclone Slate item. In Spirit Tracks, your traveling is limited to the number of railroads available, and you can only teleport on specific locations. There are also many side quests that requires you to transport people or items from point A to point B, and this gets old very quickly.

For a game like Veilguard it's very obvious where their political affiliations lie haha...
That would be judging a game not on it's own merit. Kinda shallow, don't you think?

Also I hate dogs, I don't even take the Mabari as a party member, I don't think it's right to use animals as weapons. So difference of preferences again.
That's a very leftist idea of you ::lol

If you play The Zodiac Age there are enough features in it to drastically speed up the game. It doesn't take nearly as long since you have 8X speed but it will still keep you up all night if you get sucked into it lol
I no longer have the luxury to play all-nighter. I'd rather cheat to speed up grinding.

Wow, I actually love XY too! Didn't know it was negatively received overall (the Friend Safari Zone can bleep itself tho).

The story I think is serviceable for a Pokemon game especially if you're a female trainer and do that one scene with Shauna. However, I do agree it can be a whole lot better involving AZ and his LIGHT OF RUIN Floette. I was hoping for Pokemon Z but it never comes (Maybe they will "fix" it in Legends ZA?)

It was actually the reason I played X/Y in the first place to be honest lol I had to see for myself why it was reading and being told that they wouldn't put the Gen 6 series in their top 5 ... I get it now though

I guess we shall see ! From the looks of it Legends ZA should be what we were hoping for in the 3ds back in 2015 !

Before I saw the trailer I thought it was gonna take place during the war ... but seeing Calem and Diantha ... yeah definitely gonna be Pokemon Z since they were suppose to go in-depth about Zygarde ... just with the 'Legends ZA' as the label

I like Chaotix. It's not an amazing game or anything, but I do think that it gets more hate than it deserves. It's weird at first but it's fun once you start to get used to the mechanics. It's not some hidden gem or anything, but there's a lot to like here.

Nintendo Treehouse took a ridiculous amount of liberties
This is kind of the norm when it comes to translation. The translators for everything from games to anime to comics tend to change everything and anything, and it's not uncommon for the translator to remove or alter things that they don't like or to inject whatever they want. It's awful really. This is a big part of why I stopped playing games in English (unless it's the original language).

it can happen but I wouldnt go as far as to call it the norm, when it happens people usually notice and post abt it online. Bayonetta's translator worked alongside the director to get the dialogue just as he wanted it, the metal gear games changed translator after 1 because its translator took too many liberties, siren is well done..

You dont really think of good examples because its the bad ones that stick out

Unfortunately those are exceptions, not the norm. Translations take liberties all the time, and especially today translations often have a bulk of the work done by machine translation and then the "translator" just checks for errors and changes whatever comes out as weird.

And when you start diving into the language itself, there's a lot of things that have to be changed simply because it doesn't work in the other language - this sort of thing is very common. When you consider this in addition to whatever liberties the translator took, plus localization (changing the game to better fit the new market) it's basically an entirely different game.

For me it was Final Fantasy XIII and this was even when it was rather new; at the time newest Final Fantasy.

I could definitely tell why people hated it but I could also say many aspects happen in other Final Fantasy games. Always felt people bandwagoned on buzz words and herd mentality about the game, even if there was valid things to dislike about the game. It for sure especially for the time had some absolute art in Video Game form.

Only one example I heard a lot was "Every place feels like a narrow tube" and all I could think was No shit, first few hours of past five Final Fantasy games are narrow tubes with as shallow forks in the road. The only sin XIII committed was to have a always present UI Element to make the player really feel and over think about the nature of the game maps, where past games sold the illusion of exploration by not having a radar map on the screen, in a game that does not need it, so after just few hours the idea gets drilled into player's head and keeps distracting the player from looking at the pretty scenery of the more-than-not tube they are going through.

To me, that is the eternal weirdness of people who vocally hated XIII. To me every complaint was something that already existed in the series and it seemed that the complaint was actually echo of much more smaller issue that regardless was for the bigger picture a major fumble, because the smaller misguided decisions painted things that were just as they were before, better, at least prettier and fully realtime 3D rendered ready to make you feel like you felt going through the ice caverns in FF IX all over again only for there to be tons of other much more small things gnawing the feel of the game away.

I still do not hate XIII, but I would like to think I get it why. These days no idea which one was bigger shame to collective fandom, (all of) XIII or XV - and I am again in camp of kinda enjoyed XV. But at least we can make musing arguments of XIII being retro now while XV has not had that many years in it's pocket yet.

I don't hate e.t game from atari 2600. I know it wasn't a good game but it's not "worst game ever made" it's overhated and we saw much worse games afterwards

Look at most Games released in the last 5 years.. and they are just as Bad as E.T. is claimed to be
just with a more Shiny Coat of paint.

I Mean.. Look at Concord and Dustborn. Or should i Say Corpse and Dustbin :sneaky: ? ?

And myself, it would be Space Invaders - Invasion Day For the PS2.
yes it's a Awful game, and Clunky.. and Really wasn't needed.
But Damn if it isn't a Fun "Turn off ya Brain and shoot things" game

Everyone knows et being THE WURST GAYM EVER is overblown, there are much worse games on the famicom like action 52

Suikoden IV had a lot of issues like the sailing, 4 character party limit, and going so back in timeline when the rest of the games have chronologically all been close to each other. (which ruled out any potential cameos from the previous games) Still had fun with it despite that, and the Rune of Punishment was definitely one of the most interesting of the True Runes.

I found most of the 3D Castlevania games to be pretty decent. They aren't as good as the 2D ones but they weren't horrible piles of shit like people online claimed them to be.

Are you talking Curse of Darkness era or Lords of Shadows?

I don't have any nostalgia for the 2D Castlevania games because I didn't play them until I was an adult. Keep that in mind when I say that Lords of Shadows is far from the worst game I've ever played but I understand the vitriol it got, even if I personally didn't feel anger towards it.

The closest I got to feeling rage over LoS was because of the girl with her knight. She's supposed to be mute, yet never shuts up.

Curse of Darkness and 64. I haven't played Lord of Shadows yet.

Mega big agree.
I think the N64 ones of the 3D bunch are the toughest to like and Lament mainly suffers from being kind of boring, but not outright bad, but I think they’re all decent. Lords of Shadow too.

Red alert 3 , everyone seems to clown on it but when I tried it well it was pretty decent.

Sure as a CNC that had OP stuff and just spam a lot of units it fails miserably at that but as a RTS? Well its good one , any connection to CNC feels meh the game story is a joke it got some funny moments (SPACE) (you are made of stupid) but has none of the cool aspects from RA2 the unit design is awful the super weapons are weak so yeah CNC wise 0/10 RTS wise 7/10 if it wasn't trying to compete with starcraft and failing badly at that and ended up using the CNC brand an easy 9.

What I learned from my experience regarding RA3 is....games are a type of entertainment that is customizable making any review of the game honestly? Pointless since you can see it as a good game but others don't and that's what makes games unique.

Mighty Number 9

I guess it just wasn't what people were hoping for? It wasn't great but I thought it was pretty good.

I unironically love Dark Souls II and Devil May Cry 2.
wait do people hate Dark Souls II? I love Dark Souls II (scholar of the first sin edition is what I played)

It seems to be regarded as the worst of the bunch, yes.
I think it's better than Dark Souls 3, but I also think total nuclear annihilation is better than Dark Souls 3, so I'm biased.

A video game that gets lots of hate and not so good reviews while it's objectively great is Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash. The most common complain is that "it's nothing like the the previous games". Yet they never have same complain when other famous games change a lot to the worse. Also let's face it: All the previous Chibi Robo games sold poorly despite the praise they got, so it was only natural to try something different from gameplay aspect. The atmosphere is still the same, which is why I don't understand the hate.

Reminds me the hate that Super Paper Mario gets from Paper Mario fanboys while personally I prefer SPM over the previous games. And mostly because it's a platform game unlike the previous ones that are turn based/action jrpgs. And while the previous two game are great and memorable they're repetitive as hell from battles aspect. Also from sales aspect SPM is the best selling one.

I really enjoyed Mario Bros 2 (US). In fact I don't recall anyone hating it.

I mean, sure, it wasn't a "true" Mario game (beneath the surface), but it was still a really fun platformer. And the fact that it was Mario-fied just made it even better. :)
Also it introduced new characters that later end up being standard ones at Mario universe and even at the main games.
