If The Simpsons got their own topic, Futurama should too.

Who's a fan of this (often underated) masterpiece? I loved it since day one and actually lamented its multiple cancellations, mostly because it really did turn an animated sitcom into a work of art by making me feel a whole range of emotions through its daring plots. I think writer Zach Handlen said it best when he wrote that "I came for the fun and I stayed for the feels".

That said... I can never watch "Jurassic Bark" again. That one's too much (and I need every ounce of resolve I can get to sit through "The Luck Of The Fryrish").

i watched a lot of it on tv, and the movies too. i think i found the entire series on the internet archive at some point. it had a lot of good episodes.
"we're back, baby!"

There's this one episode where people fill out a form and give it to Blender- I mean Bender, he puts inside his shelf thing and goes "beep boop beep boop processing" and gives advice to people accordingly... when actually he's just making shit up on the spot

Anyone know the name of that episode?

was it a valentine's day episode?

Miiiight be "Overclockwise". It's been a while.

i think the episode that your thinking about is "put your head on my shoulders." people filled out little matchmaker surveys and bender sets them up with random people who hang out at random bus stops.

One of the shows my dad liked watching with me, probably watched it with me when I was a bit too young thought. I vividly remember the dog episode, the one with his brother and the clover, and being freaked out by the one where Fry and Leela where killed and replaced with robots that thought they were real an so on.

I cannot not post this

I also loved that joke

Definitely one of the best Sci-fi comedies. Problem was it was on Fox...and they H8 those kinds of shows.

Fry should've gotten with Amy.
As much as romance doesn't interest me the most about Futurama I kinda agree.

I feel that Fry x Leela went like a ping-pong where the writers could never decide if they would end up together or not...

I don't mind Amy x Kif but I found that some episodes like Amy ending up in couple with Bender felt like a filler (and metaphor about homosexuality) rather than character development. Ditto with Amy and Fry.

i disagree. i think fry and leela compliment each other very well.
Yes and no.

Yes because I loved the ending before the newly made episodes but no because I somehow felt like it got "forced" just because we got to see a male protagonist and a female deuteragonist being often together. The Moonlighting syndrome as I read.

that's the drawback to sitcoms. nothing can really be set in stone. you got to have some potential for drama.

I like FrexLeela

I just like two dumbasses better

And Amy's hot
yeah, that's the hardest part to debate on. both leela and amy are hot; no one can disagree on that. i think for misadventures, amy and fry would work very well. for something more serious, fry and leela.

they would both think it's a good idea to parachute-surf into a volcano

Oh, I'm sure the cure for being a complete moron was discovered at some point between our times and their times, otherwise I don't see us making it to the year 3000 xD

Does anyone remember how Fox banned them from using the 30th Century Fox custom opening? Like, come on...

Did they really???

Yep, not even like three episodes of them being a couple while Leela was reconsidering her choices and Fry maybe thinking about who he really likes.

I still found it funny that one woman from Zoidberg's species fell in love with him... and the mermaid from Atlanta...

It's interesting how Fry, a dumb nobody from his era, managed to be a chick magnet in the future.

I'm wondering why the show had gratuitous nudity at some point.

Iconic moment
I always liked the chapter where Fry discovers that he has 4.3 billions of dollars and in the Latin America dub he buys the skeleton of Chespirito and the Sardines.
