Cartoons Futurama

Same here, bro.

Most take their "humor" to places I'm heavily uncomfortable with, but Futurama is a love letter to the disenchanted Simpsons fan that still believes a plot could be a means for intelligent discussion, just like early Simpsons would.
where did you get?: "Futurama is a love letter to the disenchanted Simpsons"

Me neither. Something about it… rubs me the wrong way.
i just thought of something. this could be a bit like mario and zelda. one is made to be wholesome over time and the other is allowed to be darker.
violence is cartoon like in mario. zelda has ganondorf being impaled in the head in wind waker. no one is shown dying in mario, there's death everywhere in zelda.
the most risqué mario gets is pauline with her dress and daisy and peach being a little sassy in the strikers games. zelda has cia from hyrule warriors. twilight princess has gorgeously thick babes like midna and telma. other instalments have the gerudo.
the simpsons and futurama are like this. the simpsons is mostly wholesome, low level stakes and status quos; futurama experiments and can get dark but also have poignant moments.

both shows are also made by the same guy and have the same art style, one is just set in the future with robots. and they started airing at the same time. could just be a case of too much similar stuff on at the same time.

Actually ? there's a 10 year gap between Simpsons air date and Futurama's.
it doesn't feel like it, but i was probably introduced to them at the same time, so that's probably why i think they came out at the same time.

I love the first few seasons before it got cancelled. Was not a fan once they brought it back.
I'll need a refresher, what was the time of hiatus between each cancellations?

Edit: bless Wikipedia

I agree, I think I prefer the first four seasons before the Movie Tetralogy.

Found something interesting

I'll be honest there: I find that the movies would work better as noncanon/alternative timeline episodes.

I only watch the first four season plus the four movies, the rest doesn't interest me not I like it.

after chatting here and remembering how much i liked the show, i made a drawing and uploaded it to my newgrounds account. i blame waffles and lee kanker for me drawing this:

I should give KotH, Boondocks, MTM and B&B a chance but I loved watching Daria and Archer (despite many issues I got with post-Archer Vice seasons despite how I liked some such as 1999 but I firmly think that the 5th one would've been the perfect conclusion of the franchise and I'm still mad they left out many sub-plots like Veronica Dean and Conway so we won't ever know their whereabouts). I should rewatch Daria someday, I really liked some of the episodes but it was so long ago I kinda forgot.

I firmly believe that some of the shows making an actual meta-commentary about social aspects (despite how time-relevant they may be) are maybe requiring good writing so most sitcoms prefer to go for the easier audience-catching techniques such as putting violence like a Warner Bros cartoon (but with more blood) but ironically explicit material, even if this is only for the adult audience late in the night (or early in the morning depending on the clock) seems to be strictly forbidden.

PS: Have you watched Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law and Metalocalypse?

Dont diss Warner Bros man, slapstick in art! Stuff like rick and morty JUST add blood, that takes no skill

Yeah when I made that comparison I meant trying to do visual gags with more violence.

And I felt like R&M had some potential in the first few seasons, especially with some of the more "serious" moment but then it reverted back to the Status Quo of making crude stuff instead of showing actual evolution.

I cant stand the animation and artstyle, its Ugly man

Good god, the Eyephone Episode is how zoomers will know what it was like when everyone dumped normal phones for smartphones....

I used to watch Futurama before bed and I made the mistake of watching Jurassic Bark.
This episode is great like the brother one but I think that using pathos for animals when Fry's entire family and every people he knew are gone for good is a bit too much.

Also the movie with Lars retconned this from the timeline so the entire episode is nullified.

Oh it's a great episode I just didn't expect to be hit in the feels before bed when I had school in the morning.

Futurama was great, don’t really remember much than a few episodes and jokes when I was young but it was a funny show.

I really liked the robot in it, I think Master Shake voiced him?

i went and check to see what bender's voice actor has been in, because i was sure that he hadn't been in aqua teen hunger force. he was for a short time the voice of shake, for 2 episodes. i made a quick list of some roles that john dimaggio has been in. he's been in a lot of stuff.
bender [futurama]
scotsman [samurai jack]
general grievous [clone wars cartoon]
shnitzel [chowder]
jake the dog [adventure time]
master shake in 2 episodes of aqua teen hunger force [2013-15]
wakka [final fantasy x]
redeemer [spawn armageddon]
osamu kashiwagi [yakuza]
marcus fenix [gears of war]
