I'm wondering why the show had gratuitous nudity at some point.
It IS funny just how much tna Futurama is, not that I mind

Young adults I understand but wouldn't that make it unfit for teens? Since usually in the US it's a no no to even remotely imply nudity in mainstream media and TV (unless it's cable or satellite I think).
I'm not remembering it well since I've seen it in english more often but Bender had two voices depending of the epoch.French dub was nice too.

But in the same way I feel that gratuitous nudity feels like they want to insist that it's an adult sitcom like violence...

The usual suspect who wants more viewers of a certain category.Futurama aired on cable tv. fox, comedy central and cartoon network's adult swim.
i made a note of this in another post, i think it might have been in one of your posts; yeah, network executives do seem to think that unnecessary violence, language and nudity/sex jokes makes a show "mature".
I should give KotH, Boondocks, MTM and B&B a chance but I loved watching Daria and Archer (despite many issues I got with post-Archer Vice seasons despite how I liked some such as 1999 but I firmly think that the 5th one would've been the perfect conclusion of the franchise and I'm still mad they left out many sub-plots like Veronica Dean and Conway so we won't ever know their whereabouts). I should rewatch Daria someday, I really liked some of the episodes but it was so long ago I kinda forgot.American Adult cartoons have a style of humor that I actively dislike and disapprove of but Futurama is a classic. I like King of the Hill, Boondocks, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Beavus and Butthead, Daria, Venture Bros, Clone High Aqua Teen Hunger Force Archer, and Bob’s Burgers too. Although those are the only ones I like. Drawn together is good too.
KotH is my preferred style of humor. I’m not trying to sound old, but I never tolerated high energy shock humor. I thought “adult humor” consisted of smart and clever commentary, something KotH has in spades thankfully.I should give KotH, Boondocks, MTM and B&B a chance but I loved watching Daria and Archer (despite many issues I got with post-Archer Vice seasons despite how I liked 1999 but I firmly think that the 5th one would've been the perfect conclusion of the franchise and I'm still mad they left out many sub-plots like Veronica Dean and Conway so we won't ever know their whereabouts).
To be honest I mostly am famimiar with KotH from well known moments such as the "new generation of music" and "Do I look like I know what a JPEG is?" Maybe I'll appreciate it more as I get older.KotH is my preferred style of humor. I’m not trying to sound old, but I never tolerated high energy shock humor. Same here with the "Read, n-word, read!"Boondocks is great with its jokes too. Very dialogue driven.
I know Tyson mostly from Punch-Out (you can laugh but I though he was a video-game character until more recently since I didn't know about boxing that much). He's dubbed by Tyson himself?Mike Tyson mysteries is just sheer joy. It has that fun and adventurous energy you would find in a higher budget Scooby Doo production or the Jackie Chan cartoon. Very fun and engaging show with plenty of smart jokes.
I think I would still prefer Daria but there's something addicting about their giggling (and some of the scenes involving that teacher).Beavus and Butthead also contains my preferred humor of mellow, low energy jokes with clever punchlines. Also has some fun plots.
I'd still rewatch a full run anytime haha! Especially as a big JB fan who ended up reading some of the books which is not that far from that show (well, not as much but it's clear that they know about the franchise beyond the movies).Agree on Archer.
HBAaL and Metalocalypse have some violence and suggestive stuff while also having actual jokes and some actual story aspects so it balances things out.Edit: Appreciate you bringing up Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law and Metalocalypse, Space Ghost also matches my preferred humor alongside those two. All great shows.
The Tick is also funny.
Yes!He's dubbed by Tyson himself?
Me too. Shame they “lost the war”, so to speak.I genuinely miss classic MTV and the 00's Adult Swim era.
So very true haha.PS: Oh boy, we digressed hard.
my opinion exactly. i think the reason futurama was the only one to resonate with me was because it still was telling more of a story than most others. you could find nothing funny but still be entertained by the sci fi adventure plus it being an adult comedy also meant it had more freedom of expression. since some of the topics it explored were things other works might be too afraid to talk about (which im sure is the appeal to a lot of adult comedies.) i really just couldnt care less about things when they simply have the characters just exist simply to make the audience laugh i need a more clear feeling of progression. drawn together also sort of applies considering its commitment to mimicking reality tv so i liked it a bit. other than that theres not many exceptions from back then. i do feel that a lot of american adult cartoons nowadays though have learned to take that same story telling aspect from futurama though, just not interestedAmerican Adult cartoons have a style of humor that I actively dislike and disapprove of but Futurama is a classic.

Yes. The dialogue jokes are also great.I also like how it still used visual humour like older cartoons with some twist.
I will get confused the moment people would call the PS4/Xbox One era retro.Yes. The dialogue jokes are also great.
Same here, bro.American Adult cartoons have a style of humor that I actively dislike and disapprove of but Futurama is a classic.
Early Simpsons had my favorite style of humor; layered jokesSame here, bro.
Most take their "humor" to places I'm heavily uncomfortable with, but Futurama is a love letter to the disenchanted Simpsons fan that still believes a plot could be a means for intelligent discussion, just like early Simpsons would.
yep. network executives. they get blinded by greed. more viewers = more money. The usual suspect who wants more viewers of a certain category.
Never thought about it like that, but you are absolutely right.Early Simpsons had my favorite style of humor; layered jokes
>Homer finds himself in a perfect future, leaves it anyways because no one knows what a donut is
>Homer buys from the same hotdog stand over and over, turns out he bought so many that the hotdog guy is able to get his kids into college
>Homer doesn’t initially get Bart a babysitter, but he does so anyways because a paper note told him to do the opposite of everything Bart says
This is the kinda humor I welcome.
Hmmm, so what you're feeling is Disenchantment™? ;)but Futurama is a love letter to the disenchanted Simpsons fan
it's the curse of seasonal rot. it can hit anything in the entertainment industry. if a show, movie, book, comic, or game series goes on for too long, it naturally runs through all of the ideas its setting and characters can provide. the natural life cycle for shows is 3-5 seasons. go on further than that, plots get rehashed, new characters are added to maintain relevancy, social commentary gets added in, shock value becomes a crutch if the show used that at any point. nothing can go on forever. but shows that bring in money will be driven so far into the ground that they go through the core, come out the other side and eventually pierce the heavens themselves to get those last few cents out of it.Never thought about it like that, but you are absolutely right.
I also like the relatability of it all: maybe you too are stuck in a job you hate, working for an out-of-touch old crow who doesn't even remember your name while your son is constantly getting in trouble and you are the sole breadwinner of your household. It's the kind of thing to open a cold one to... but we have strayed way too far from that. Now it's all about Elon Musk landing on your backyard because plot.
Actually never watched it XDHmmm, so what you're feeling is Disenchantment™? ;)
