I would like monsters to be removed from party count and be it's own stable or housing. I get story wise it makes sense that the number is small as you are a band of lets say independent mercenaries? and thus your army should be small for more control and little detection, payments but you couldn't really invest in monster units and keep every unique character in your army. Dumb AI is good for JP farming but not for story beats, but it's likely they won't tweak much but the art which is a shame as the job/treasure hunting side quests were cut in original release and again in War of Lions.

Monsters clutter the small army you have

1 chocobo and somehow you now have 7 more chocobos! If you take 4 with you they will die pretty fast , such a shame cuz chocobos aren't actually bad in act 2 but they just can't keep up at all with act 3.

If they make you able to command 6 units instead of 5 i will call that an improvement but it will never be a thing cuz the trailer didn't show it.

I would still like knights to be able to ride chocobos cuz a knight ain't a knight without his steed

wait, chocobos can be permanent recruits? is that a skill that one of the jobs learn, to recruit monsters?

Yup just hope you get a black chocobo cuz they absolutely destroy everything but have very low HP.

Otherwise get rid of every chocobo you get , you may want to save baku cuz u know baku da gigachad chocobo.

which job gives you the skill?

You can convert them to your cause with mediator? I forgot his name but the job was specialized in talking your way out of everything.

You could convert enemies to your side but it has a very decent chance of failing , the same job can increase a character bravery/faith and i think the increase is permanent.

You get baku for free other than that you need to use mediator

You know that just really grinds the gears, the only chocobo knight I remember having where the chocobo didn't take up a unit space was FFA2! Granted you had to mount him on the map but you could only have a moogle with job to mount and most of his tool set would be just the chocobo's moves, which really makes him a lack luster unit but hey he could ride the black chocobo and fly!

BRUH they didn't make a proper knight unit? Such an letdown

Also why is it black chocobo when the thing is purple ::thinking are square color blind

okay. i don't think i got anyone learning that job yet. i remember reading on gamefaqs that all you needed to do was have a character jump on the chocobo and you would just have it. no one mentioned the mediator job or anything. i thought that i had missed something when i didn't see the chocobo in the next battle.

You could do that?? What?? Where??? I don't remember such an option....usually characters would cause the game to ask you "this character wants to join you yes or no?"

no. outlines are typically black, and computer programs don't distinguish outlines from fill colors. i learned this quite early on when filling in colors for clothes in some of my drawings. unless you get the color select tool to be ultra specific, pick a color that's just a tad bit too close to another and it picks them both. from that point forward, i pick a shade of grey that is dark enough to look black on its own but would stand out against a solid background of actual black.

i'll boot up the game later and check again. i think you might have to weaken the chocobo. i'll also look for the topic again on gamefaqs. i'll post the link when i find it again.

Thats actually useful insight.

I don't know if weakening enemies make them easier to convert.

Btw check this out it's a mere glimpse of what a modern Final Fantasy 6 remake might look like

that's pretty awesome. too bad square enix is too lame and lazy to make something like this nowadays.
hopefully someone makes this a real thing one day.

Any unit I think can mount a friendly chocobo just not use all their abilities, making them good for mages to give them better reach or easy escapes. You do however need a mediator/Orator or had the unit with the job's abilities equipped on them with the skill Beasttongue unlocked to invite the unit to your cause.

okay. thanks for the clarification. i'll work on getting that skill. 2 of my characters are in mage builds and they need the extra movement.

Note that the chocobo will take up unit space both when you deploy the unit and your army reserve. Say you got 1 black mage and 1 time mage and give them both a chocobo to mount on the map, after that you will only have 1 more space for a unit. Not worth it really. They will NOT mount them permanently.

huh. that's weird. doesn't seem like it should be like that.
i'll stick to my original plan then, building my characters up to a point where the flaws are nullified by my characters being too strong for it to matter.

Lmao i totally missed that how the hell was one supposed to know this? Oh and the chocobo name was boco no idea who baku is i really forgot that much....

Hope so any 2d FF game would benefit way more than 3d games from a remake whether it looks like the video or full fledged 3d style no matter it would be greatly appreciated.

baku is from ff9. he is the leader of the gang that zidane is a part of at the beginning of the game.

if i remember correctly, you've spent the past several months playing all of the first 9 games in the series and tactics. that's 10 games from one series. after a while, it would be easy to start mixing names up.

Hence my complaint that monsters should be housed away in stables away from the main party reserves. Only real chocobo knight so far in the series where you keep your chocobo at all times until KO is FFA2 chocobo rider.

tactics advance had a monster stable, but i think you can only have one monster. i don't remember. i only did it once, and it was like playing the worst version of pokemon ever made. stopped playing it shortly after that.

Probably yeah most PS1 games i played were only once it's RE1/2 that i went through twice for each of the 4 characters.

i played ff9 several times; a couple of times on a psx, once on a psx, got it on steam and i'm on disc 3 for the switch version. ff4 is probably one of my favorite psx games to play. i filled up about 6 memory cards with ff4 files back many years ago when i was a kid.
