Final Fantasy Thread

That means you are at end of chapter 1 and at level 25? Bro that's crazy! I beaten the game at level 36 or 37
it's a habit that i picked up from disgaea; being ridiculously over leveled. you can typically beat those games at level 80 for the story, but you usually need to be maxed level to handle the post game stuff.

I think it sorta removes challenge from the game and requires immense amounts of grinding I don't it necessary to grind like that.

it's not intentional for the final fantasy games; and it's mandatory for disgaea. the people who make that series are the ones who would sit down and play final fantasy and dragon warrior and other games and try to max out all of the stats for their characters.

Yea I don't like grinding especially forced grinding and especially SLOW grinding its tedious.

The player himself should decide whether he wants to grind or not it should never be a design choice but that's how I see it.

yeah, it should be more natural for characters to get xp at reasonable amounts during regular combat encounters along the story's path. that seems to be the main reason that i don't like playing dragon warrior games. you get so little xp at the beginning. especially in dragon warrior monsters 2.
in every disgaea game, you can level up from lv 1 to the max in a single battle with some set up before hand.

Whoa, talk about being on the same wavelength ::zeldapoggers

Ultima Weapon is a recurring antagonist right?
It varies.
Sometimes it's a boss, sometimes it's the best weapon for a character.

Damn what a shame FF2 Isnt the one getting a REMAKE.

Imagine what can be done with that game i can already think of few stuff we never see rebel armies fighting VS army of palamecia i would like to see that , you can add a section where you need to defend altair from ground attack by palamecia , you can make a mini section where you control the wind drake and hack down palamecian troops , this can happen when you ride into the tornado , also this Isnt entirely needed but a mechanic like FFT soldiers would be cool to have this mini RTS where you take control of towns occuiped by palamecia or you can go out and help rebel troops in few side quests.

These are just few ideas atop of my head of how a FF2 remake can be done , it needs this dark Fantasy style you know some gore wont hurt at all to make the game as grim as possible.

Damn square enix hire me already ::goblingrin

FF2 has all the right cards to be THE best FF game it just needs a team of people who know what they are doing.

Trust me when i say FF2 has what it got to be the best FF game ever.

You really must be the biggest FF2 fan ever lol

Yes milord , I been playing nothing but FF since september 2024
Then it makes sense.
FF2 is often regarded being among the three weakest mainline games in the series (usually 2, 8 and 13 but this is in no way a rule or anything). I’m kind of inclined to agree, but it’s always fun to see the impressions of new fans, I think.

Before anyone jumps me, I don’t think any mainline FF is outright bad, some are just better than others. ::holdup

Yes im aware of it being a blacksheep of sorts , thats why it could use a remake cuz it would fix it.

Weird thing about FF8 is it looks like a massive success , square wanted to play around more with the gameplay i guess its up to everyone liking

It’s borderline unfinished and is full of weird new systems that made more sense on paper imo, but I think the cool parts mostly outweigh the bad ones. I’d still rank it pretty low, though I’d put 13 at the bottom personally.

I still don’t think its Star Wars-retreading of a story could be ”fixed” very much.
FF12 is similar in that way, but I think that one is much better.

Yes FF8 did feel something more was Going to be included seifer storyline in particular and meeting up with laguna and all.

The junction system is a nice change of usual equipment buying and stuff... Its highly experemntal game just like FF2 this means its either hit or miss more of a hit to me than miss that was FF2

Nah you can curve out some solid story from FF2 characters i like the emperor design he has this feminine design that doesnt like say out right this guy is evil , its more of wicked and sinister same for kuja and that worked pretty well , thats really the job of a remake take something and do it again and in FF2 case it needs that. More than lets say FF9 which is already quite modern
