Crazy stuff , borderline absurd
I remember being sick/having a really bad cold when I finished it, so I probably just spend the days in a haze just spanking monsters without thinking.::moogle-sleep
This makes me kind of tempted to take them to 99 just for laughs.

I got sick too when I was playing 7 I just didn't play for 5 days straight instead ::smug I did spend 3 days looking for the black stone went around the whole world and fought thunder hawks a bunch of times before I recruited yuffie otherwise I would have probably been level 60 when I got to sephrioth

Here is my party as you can see im lvl 67 and for the love of god ignore my name idk what I was thinking when I wrote JAY like that everytime someone would say my name it sounds like a calm "cloud" but then a loud JAY.

Despite it being my first Final Fantasy and my 3rd RPG I actually beaten sephiroth first try you wouldn't believe it I had no maiden kiss or eye drops or whatever cures sadness when I went down to fight that fool , my intention was to finish the game with the first 2 characters I met well Barret and tifa spent the whole final phase as frogs XD so I won by myself just buy HP materia and give it to everyone I had barret with I think 9000 health something with 2 or 3 HP materia these 2 materia HP and MP increase try to have many of them level them up and you get some pretty decent HP and MP
Yeah i guess i should have grinded a bit more maybe someday i'll give it another whirl but yeah i'm not the best when it comes to rpgs however i do like playing them.

This made me curious to check what level I was, because I didn't remember the fight being overly hard and I didn't think I had grinded overly much but...I guess I know why it was easy now LMAO

Damn dude i wish i have this level of dedication

RPGs in general always need a *little* grinding unless its system shock 2 , I personally never ran from a fight in FF7 because I didn't know how to run so I think that helped along with getting lost few times , I think you can do alright at level 60

I was half asleep the other day when an idea came to me you know how battles in 2d games were against static sprites? Yeah that always made battles in these games less interesting than the 3d games and square seem to recognize this issue and that's why I think they vastly improved upon battles in 7/8/9 with them becoming more cinematic and all...

But how to improve the 2d games battles? Maybe not through a remake like FF4? Well here is where my idea comes into play what if you can bring all these static sprites to sprites similar to the player character and the party? With animation and all....we already see something similar to this in the cecil vs cecil fight or kain vs cecil so the engine must be capable of doing this.

I already had an idea for some animations for Xdeath , basically you want to copy paste the sprite stance into the artstyle similar to playable character but with the same pose they have as the static sprite , alright now what if Xdeath wanna melee attack? So picture him in this new artstyle and what he does is he raises his hand the one on the sword not the other one , he raises it grabbing his sword and in an instant the sword goes 180 degrees and he cuts left or right here you can make the animation portray how strong Xdeath melee attack is by making the cut super fast...or his spellcast animation can be his other hand where he makes it into a fist surrounded by a small black ball you know he is a bit of X zone fan so that can work , also Xdeath isn't human I think he is the only one to not be a human in terms of antagonists? So he may not exactly feel pain when hit like humans you can make this into his "hit" animation where he takes damage he hardly flinches you can make him slightly flinch or hurt but it should be quite subtle to get him to this intimidating feeling where he hardly is effected by your attacks , of course changing spirtes style similar to ours would mean wounded animation the animation that plays when one of the party members is on low health I don't have any ideas for this so I will leave it to you to picture those.

In FF6 the vector soldiers already have a model all you need is some extra animations and you done , oh and the magitek armor could use some changes to make it look similar to its art depiction , these games don't have an exact death animation more of "ow I got hit" then is already laying on ground next frame , this means death animations may not be possible save for boss fights , but fallen enemies can make the battle look better like there is this many dead enemies you killed or you can make them dissipate after few seconds of them dying.

I also thought of how the empire of palamecia from FF2 would have its soldiers look like now since the FMV intro shows the soldiers to not exactly be humans uhm indicated by red eyes and strange sounds they make not to mention their strange resistance one gets stabbed in the neck and just walks away like nothing happened...you can make the soldiers have red eyes I think that be good change I will let your imagination do the work for they should look like , now when an enemy attacks you may want them to move forward like our character does when they attack its a good indication that someone did a move.

With this idea in mind it makes the pixel remaster feel like a wasted chance to finally have the same sprite style for all objects in battle.

Is this even possible? And how much of it is possible....I'm not into modding RPG games especially since I see no need to change or add anything to The FF games so maybe there might have been an attempt at this that I'm not aware of....
i think your best bet for this idea is to just remake the game in another engine that can support that kind of stuff. rpg maker might work, or build something from the ground up. you would need to heavily modify the game engine of the first 6 games to support having more animations during combat encounters.

Damn what level you guys were?
i think level 51 and i think cloud had all of my summon materia which i learned about 10 minutes before that battle that you lose max hp with each one equipped, so he had like 2,000 hp if i remember correctly.

Yes its why as much of a cool idea it is , its just impossible to do.

Btw how is the FFT playthrough going?

i stopped for a little, had to work on some art requests for a few people on devianart, and then i got distracted by pikmin again. i am currently at the part where you rescue delita's sister and my party is around level 25.

it's a habit that i picked up from disgaea; being ridiculously over leveled. you can typically beat those games at level 80 for the story, but you usually need to be maxed level to handle the post game stuff.

I think it sorta removes challenge from the game and requires immense amounts of grinding I don't it necessary to grind like that.

it's not intentional for the final fantasy games; and it's mandatory for disgaea. the people who make that series are the ones who would sit down and play final fantasy and dragon warrior and other games and try to max out all of the stats for their characters.

Yea I don't like grinding especially forced grinding and especially SLOW grinding its tedious.

The player himself should decide whether he wants to grind or not it should never be a design choice but that's how I see it.

yeah, it should be more natural for characters to get xp at reasonable amounts during regular combat encounters along the story's path. that seems to be the main reason that i don't like playing dragon warrior games. you get so little xp at the beginning. especially in dragon warrior monsters 2.
in every disgaea game, you can level up from lv 1 to the max in a single battle with some set up before hand.

Ultima Weapon is a recurring antagonist right?
It varies.
Sometimes it's a boss, sometimes it's the best weapon for a character.
