Extremely Weird And Obscure Games

According to the Scumm VM compatibility list, looks they they work (haven't tried it myself).
Discworld (first one) required tinkering to get sound last i tried, it was always a bit of an arse to run though. Both games are great, though I think I preferred the second one. Also play Discworld Noir if you get a chance. Unique spin on the genre using a notebook of clues a bit like an inventory.

Lots of great recs in this thread. The only obvious one I haven't seen yet is Toonstruck. Great animation, voice acting and writing, though be prepared for pretty difficult puzzles. It's not a softlock adventure game though.

Sony Music: can we make a game
Playstation: sure
...
Playstation: bro what the fuck
They live together.

-- On the thread topic I finished a weird interactive novel from this site not that long ago where you go into a mansion after your 2 friends with a girl you half-trust..You make choices along the way that carry weight. I don't really like this genre but enjoyed this one. Short-lived game, so forgot the name. Some Duke Nukem games might fit the bill. Abe's Odysee would be along those lines.

There is a fantastic series that begins with a title "5 days a stranger" that is accessible if you are on a pc or laptop. It begins as a kind of mild "point and click" investigation into a murder, with a few " Clock Tower" elements and it goes into different dimensions with the sequels. Defo, one that would be worth a shot.

Baroque and Jumping Flash are both pretty fun and fairly obscure PS1 titles. They're very tonally different from each other, however.

Regarding "5 days a stranger", I forgot the initial plot (played over 20 years ago). Trilby is a "moral" housethief who steals only from the rich, breaks into a mansion and finds himself in a situation. The series gets a lot weirder as it goes on, with the following games. Would've edited my last post but ran over the 60 minutes. This series should be ported to android somehow.

Doshin the Giant

Immercenary

L.O.L.: Lack Of Love

-Cubivore
-Gekisha Boy
-Short Warp
-Incredible Crisis
-Dynamite Headdy
-R?MJ: The Mystery Hospital
-Demolition Girl
-Seventh Cross Evolution
-PO'ed
-Illbleed
-Rocky Rodent
-No One Can Stop Mr. Domino!
-Oyaji Hunter Mahjong
-Toilet Kids
-Hakai-ou: King of Crusher
-The Ooze
-D2

mister mosquito. whole game you play as a mosquito sucking the blood of a typical japanese family. one of the levels has you drinking the blood from the daughter while she's taking a bath.

I was in Las Vegas for a concert years ago and I stopped in one of the arcades and found this fun lil gem. I was able to beat it with only like 4 contines which was really nice.

OH! I actually know this one! I played Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit a while back!

On PS3. Bad place to play it. It was fun to play, but not fantastic enough to get past how unstable the port was. Dead serious, it kept crashing and freezing and had framerate hitches. Thankfully, I think the PC version is free from all these faults, same with the 360 version, so play those if you’re interested.

The Wagyan Land series

The platformer component is fire, you can temporaly turn enemies in plataform by screaming at them, and being aimed at kids is sort of easy, the part that make it unique but may be a turnoff is the fact that the "bosses" are minigames based on word chain minigames, the fact that only the first two are translated doesn't help matters, fortunately i use savestates so all is good

Some more I thought of:

Yeah, I think I played it on the Xbox 360 myself.

Watching a video about Tempo right now.

If there was ever THE GAME I most wanted to play on emulation or a modded console, it would possibly be Super Tempo. There are other contenders for that title, but Super Tempo sticks in my mind as this mysterious sequel to this expressive and overlooked platformer on the 32X. There’s also Pocket Tempo for Game Gear, which is by far the easiest title to set up and play on emulator, but I’m hesitant considering I swear I remember gameplay looking choppy when I looked it up.

There’s also this game: Lunistice.

Kind of a junk food platformer with a very well done artstyle that mimics the 32 bit days. I would call it junk food because I think its main gameplay isn’t amazing, but it’s cute and colorful and easy to play. I think, instead, the term “comfort food” is more applicable here.

It’s on both Steam and Switch. More people have played the Switch release, but it has a latgescale modding project in the works on the PC version called 1.5 Accel Coda.

Still my fav

I have the super expensive Asian English version of Lost in the Rain. Goes for $500+. I bought it new from Playasia back in the day for $30-$40. Pain (PAL), Afrika (NTSC), The Last Guy (Asian English version), and MotorStorm Complete (PAL) are all quite rare. Magus is probably one of the hardest to come across. Very few copies are available on Ebay (2 copies, to be exact), none on Amazon. It's also a North American exclusive, making it even rarer.

Speed Freak (Vectorbeam, late 70s)
Have ALWAYS loved the look of Vector Graphics

Crystal Castles (Atari, 1983)
Played the fuck out of this on Atari Anniversary Collection Redux on PS1 and Atari Anthology on PS2. Loved the visuals

Wizard Of Wor (Midway, 1980)
Was completely obsessed with this game ever since I first played it on Midways Arcade Treasures 2

NARC (Williams, 1988)
Complete and total mayhem, the video game (and yes, you can arrest people, but where's the fun in that?). Was also famously a part of the Foot Clan hideout in TMNT 1990

I always find it hard to pass by this game without playing it.

When I was in college, there was an arcade near my house that had one of these, and I can't tell you how much money I spent playing it, but the one I played had the turntable on the left side and the buttons on the right.
Deadstorm Pirates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I played that ONCE down at Jilly's Arcade in Ocean City, NJ many years ago. God was it AMAZING. One of the coolest gun games I ever played. I'd love to be able to play it again.

Hello, everyone.
