Discord server shutdown

That too. While group chat has its charm, I prefer 1-to-1 private chat. Like the old, good times of msn and skype (and I don't talk about skype groups).

I only will allow members that are 18 years old that I personally know, sorry. Doesn't stop you from interacting with me to make you a candidate though. Regular members, some who had been really good contributors. It was almost amazing how fast and hard they sunk that.

Daaaaaamn! Good thing these regular members never became moderators to said forum.

I've only been moderator for another person's forum one time in my life because I was from the most regular members there. And since then I decided to never become moderator for another person's community even if they ask/beg me to. Unless I get hired as Facebook moderator, the salary they get is quite good and everyone can apply for a job as a Facebook moderator.

I think she left the discord before it got shutdown. She is however, in these forums.

And illegal activities. But somehow discord gets away with it despite keep allowing that kind of illegal servers even when said servers get reported a lot.

But now here comes the biggest question I think someone might or might not agree with:

Would anyone be willing to make a second attempt at doing this? I don't think itll be run by Spike this time, but I'm a little curious to know if anyone would be willing to have a second go at a Discord, truly finding the right admins/mods to choose and such.

Not that I don't see value in discord servers, but I miss the old and simple plain text chats. Having just like 10 people from here could already result in something interesting.

I've said this on a status before, but I'd rather try an IRC channel. And limit it to forum members.

Even in the past I never understood the appeal of IRC. It wasn't so convenient either. Its popularity was probably because literally everyone could open their own IRC server easily, quickly and for free. The only reason I was using IRC was because some anime could get downloaded only via IRC channels. Which makes it no different than communities that force you joining their discord servers to get access to certain material.

Personally I always preferred chatrooms/chatboxes/shoutboxes over IRC channels.

It was just getting good, too.

I mean I understand the appeal, but I think it's better to just...let stuff go sometimes. I wasn't the best mod - in fact I even left the server in November 2024 because I felt like I wasn't making any difference. Now I'm slowly dipping my feet back into the CDR/RGT community pool and I'm just trying to have a good time, with leaving certain stuff exclusively between me and the people that it concerns. Building new bridges and maybe even rebuild old ones
