CRT Thread

Recently got a really big crt that some old guy was about to throw away. I just feel way more comforted and close to everything I play when using it.

I'm really young in comparison to most people here, but I was born early enough to have a few memories with them. Everything is just so different, more fitting when playing older games on it, I feel like I'm finally doing it right.

my current CRT is a no brand one with composite input. Gonna be upgrading to a Samsung HD CRT though.
I just use game consoles, dvd and vhs players. Hope to rebuild the wall of CRTS I had going at my old place but better. It’s quite nice for LAN parties.

I have a couple of CRTs but this is the one I currently use the most. Always wanted a Trinitron and I found this one pretty cheap and it's modded to accept RGB SCART.

I finally got my long-awaited CRT monitor.
I haven't prepared the power cord or conversion cables yet, so I can't test it, and it might be broken.
But I'll research and try to fix it.
First, I need to clean it up properly.

I've been deep into CRT for some time. Currently using a 27" JVC D-Series and a 17" Sony PC CRT. I have *a lot* in my collection.

Just picked up my Samsung HD CRT (with hdmi and component!!)last night. Need to figure out how to get the aspect ratio right on my ps3 though.
IMG_1543.jpeg

I have a huge sanyo 32 inch in my work room that has a bunch of my retro consoles connected to it.

I have another sanyo little smaller maybe 22 inch, that has my modded ps2 and my vcr connected to it.

I have a toshiba tv/dvd combo but its a little ten inch, I mainly use it for testing retro consoles when fixing them or when I am modding them. Way more convenient than using adapters and such.

I have a CRT from an old packard bell system my dad gave me when I was a teenager.|
I have a Emachines CRT

and the oldest thing I got is a terminal monitor that only displays green and black lol.

I currently have a 27” JVC D-Series consumer set, an L5 pairing of Sony PVM 20L5 & 14L5, a Sony PVM 8044Q, & a Samsung SlimFit TV TX-S3082WH in my game room.

Check how it handles 480p/4:3
So I messed with AV cables and HDMI and HDMI at 480p works best for the ps3 but it’s still not a perfect fit. Model of the TV is a Samsung Slimfit TX-T2782H

That’s one of the biggest issues with the Slimfit series in my opinion—they’re all sized the awkward ratio of 30” so any resolution thrown at it is going to get overscan when scaled properly.

Open up a retro gaming bar.
With influencers they could put strong magnets on them and some other evil shenanigans for views.

Better to keep them in his crt loving home than to expose them to the dangers of the public.

We can’t have nice things ?

Unfortunately the vast majority of people do not do amazing things or terrible things. For the vast majority of people we should have awesome things like access to CRT TVs that are already out there.

However individuals like Logan Paul, Johnny Somali, whoever that dude who sprayed bug spray on food at a supermarket for clout etc. tend to do horrible things for clout.

Maybe I am just being paranoid but I would not open a gaming museum or bar with vintage equipment not easily replaced due to potential for vandalism.

If you really want to spread the love of gaming to the public imo emulators/PC and LCD (unfortunately). Share the love of CRTs with close friends who you know won't put a powerful magnet or scratch up your CRT display.

Anyways I currently have three CRTs.

I have a 9 inch RCA consumer vcr combo.
Here is a picture from years ago

its an old picture captured without my RAW+ App so its not as vibrant.

I have a 8 inch Sony PVM and a 9 inch JVC PVM.
Here is photo without the RAW+ settings

I need more room for more CRTs
I don't particularly care about geometry as I see many CRT fans do, I just want the TV to work and have good aesthetics and preferably a curved screen.

I have 4 CRTs, Fuego 15 inch which stands vertically perfectly, it's both PAL and NTSC compatible which is of utmost importance to me.

Then there's this awesome I think it's 10 inch or something, not sure how big it is Philips TV which is sadly PAL only but the aesthetics and curved screen are just perfect

My big multi system curved screen one, awesome TV full NTSC support and all

And finally our main TV at home, flatscreen Samsung we've been using as our main TV since 2010

I know it's weird to still ue a CRT as your main TV but I like it that way
for modern gaming I play on a 1080p Samsung from 2011 or so and that's more than enough for me on PC I have a pretty nice monitor but that's about it.

I just can't get enough of CRT TVs, I grew up with them and never really moved past them and I'm ok with that.

This isn't my hand or my picture, but I have a few of these guys on order so I can build a true crt handheld. Granted it is only black and white and will be like a bomb in the pocket, but I want it and to my knowledge it hasn't been produced yet.

I have already lovingly called it the MDG or the Mortal Damage Gameboy. Absolutely I will hit you up when I have it all completed. Once I place the order with pcbway after I get the device for measurements it shouldn't take too long to build.

So, I’ve found for nearly a decade that folks recommend RGB SCART as the ideal connection for most consoles. I’ve never seen it in person myself, but I’d love to try! I have a large variety of consoles though, and I value that the most.

Does a box exist that allows multiple consoles (five or more, ideally) all connected with RGB at the same time?
If not, would you consider it worth it in my case to just get Component/S-Video cables?

(I’m new to video connections for my systems, so any help is appreciated!)
