Did we just meet CRT god?

Anyway, here's my modest little setup. It's not much, but it's honest. Sorry for the clutter, btw. I was testing a bunch of stuff on my SummerCart right before this.

Monitor is a Sony KV-27FS120. Got it off an ol' mate for free a little while ago. Legend, that guy. He demo'd it to me by hooking a 3DO up to the thing.

Goddamn its that an arcade board?
If youre talking about the orange thing nah lol. Its a gbs-c scan converter to output to VGA from SCART, VGA, and component. Sorry, if that is disappointing.

I could try to build a mini-pc for emulation and hook it up to my CRT via the GBS-C or just use the ps2 and emulate from that.

Could you share some resources on how to get a vga signal to output on a pal crt in rgb?
I have a lot of tvs but Im a n00b to this stuff, I just play on consoles or a rasberri bi 3b+ with pi2scart

Not familiar with PAL dominant inputs (SCART/RGB isn't common in the US). I will try my best.

If you want to take input from VGA to as input to output to SCART for a PAL CRT. You could try this Sync Converter.

Resources for VGA/SCART Sync Converter:

I might be overthinking this, but If its just VGA -> SCART, then you wouldn't need anything else as it converts the VGA signal 31khz to 15khz for SCART.

If the input is SCART/RGB, then you could use a Scan Converter/Upscaler for it to output to VGA then use the Sync Converter.

Console (inputs SCART) -> OSSC/Upscaler (output VGA) -> Sync Converter (VGA to SCART) -> PAL CRT

feel free to DM me.

is that a soundbar on the left? Is it shielded?

Honestly, if you have a crt and just hook it to the original consoles and not your pc you are kind of missing out. Besides, unless you own multiple 1000+€ PCBs, there's no other way to play arcade games on those.
I'd kill for a Deathsmiles PCB.

Soundbar is a cheap one generic brand from bestbuy, i highly doubt it. I was getting some interference when placed on top of the CRT so i just moved it away. Its the only speaker i have right now.

I just got this set up, so thanks for bringing awareness to sheilded speakers ill definitely invest into some better speakers.

EDIT: for anyone interested, JBL seems like a trusty brand for shielded speakers according to this reddit post

I have a Hi-Fi setup but for my crt I just use quality headphones connected to my pc. It's better than using a pair of shielded speakers, as those tend to be older and of lower quality than a modern set of headphones.

Very nice, this is some useful info

I found one! A 27" Panasonic with Composite and S Video inputs! Only had to drive 150 mile round trip to pick it up and maintain constant communication so I could jump on it as soon as one buyer fell through and it was available. The market for them is something else.

In the process of moving into the new place but will post pics when I have the whole setup put together

I've got this bigass Sony Trinitron in the living room right now. It's a beast of a TV and I dread the day I ever have to move it. I also have a 14" RCA Truflat in storage.

Yeah, rear projectors are huge but isn't the picture kinda shitty on them? It's been years since I've seen one these in action but I remember it being quite blurry

we had a huge projection tv for a while growing up simply because it was a big family tv for cheap but i got in trouble and wasnt allowed to play video games on it anymore because there was burn in of like a third person view on the side of the tv and the top corners from hp bars and such from extensive playing. so we had to throw it out. though there were also other issues with it like for example the volume button fucking up and deafening the whole house

How do you use your crt? do you play on original hardware or did you connect it to your pc?
I keep my game collection in a closet and my CRT is in there too. If I want to play a game than I just slide the door open and plug in the TV. The only downside of this setup is that I can only have a single console connected at a time, but I really don't mind.

Here is an old photo of my setup. It's changed a lot since then (I took down the metal shelf to the left of the TV, switched to larger bins, and sold off some of the larger things like the arcade hardware sitting in a box in the back), but it's more or less the same. It's just less cluttered now.

when I was a kid my grandma got one of these for free in a contest or something and gave it to me. My dad was working out of state and I remember him coming home and being shocked and pissed I had shoved that giant TV in my room (it took up the whole room outside of my bed basically) and we had a little one in our living room lol. My friends would come over and be in awe I had such a giant TV. I had it a long time. Probably like 10 years but the bulb in it or something went out and we got rid of it. It was great for movies but I remember I constantly had to screw with the brightness settings for games. It was always too dark and hard to see. I never got the burn in people always talked about on them and I gamed on it constantly I had an snes, 64 and ps2 hooked up into my vcr/dvd player into it. I guess I got lucky or didn't leave it paused and on often. It was great for multi-player. The picture wasn't as crisp as our regular TV though for games.

This is too easy to picture in my head. Poor dad ?
