i've been playing epic 2.
love the egyptian aesthetics in this one.

Why pirating indie games?
tumblr_ls2o2va2tv1qar49vo1_500.gif

Pirate EVERYTHING. Actually, If I like something I just usually end up buying it.
Steam is just easier to deal with updates and what not. Plus you support the
developers. Call it "try before you buy" or revenge for all the years of buying bad
games because all we had was box art to go by.

A massive devlog from Mutantleg for Zortch 2 (quite the big spoiler)

And for Klostyn

The Mouse game is probably stretching the definition of boomer shooter a bit but I've found it enjoyable so far. Not sure I would recommend it for the full price unless you are really vibing with the aesthetic. The shooter part of it does feel somewhat basic when compared to the classics.

possibly controversial opinion but I think the Build Engine version of Powerslave is a lot more fun than the Saturn version that Nightdive remastered

I don't know why but I have a hard time actually be hyped of this game because of how the gameplay looks a bit slow.

The visuals are really good but I still see gameplay before anything else.

And the writing is imo kinda weird for a video game set in that era

I absolutely LOOOOOVE Blood, one of my favorite games of all time, at least top 5. But that game has been mentioned here and praised to hell and back by boomer shooter fans, so I'll throw Killing Time: Resurrected into the thread. It's a really unique FMV boomer shooter from the 3DO that was remastered by Nightdive, it makes me with more old boomer shooters went the FMV route.

Killing Time: Resurrected on Steam

Is this possible to get SNES Doom from the Limited Run Game's re-release?

The reason why most 90s shooters didn't go the FMV route, was because most FMV games were either impractical or they didn't have the budget nor tech at the time. Not to mention, most FMV games of any kind didn't sell well or were overpriced.

Doom had real clay models (albeit edited) and while it was neat I think that like in fighting games it was mostly a fad when good pixel art was still working well.

Also Quake coming basically killed FMV/digitised photo as sprites.

Pretty sure doom was not the only early shooter that had their sprites made from clay models. Makes a lot of sense since I bet making such complicated rotating and animated 2d sprites from scratch would be a real pain in the butt.

Speaking of, here's the model for tchernobog from blood.

True, even from a consumer perspective I couldn't imagine shelling out the money for a 3DO and games for it back in the day

I remember the classic Fallout games using a similar technique to make their "Talking Heads", it took a bunch of time to finish even just one of those

just played a boomer type FPS called "Fashion Police Squad" - you don't actually kill anyone , u have to find people dressed in dull clothes and shoot them with what i guess you could call a "fashion bullet" to make them look trendy again - a bit wacky but seems alright so far

I remember checking about them a while ago.

I love how gross mutants were in this game, shame how Bethesda made them appear a bit too "clean", too "nice looking" and too much like "a guy without a nose" than a half melted human.

Perhaps Walton Goggins didn't want to appear disfigured on screen.

I'm back again to remind yall youngins that the term boomer shooter is stupid,
since Gen X's (where the first FPS came from) parents are either dead or don't game and are called baby boomers. R-E-M-E-M-B-E-R FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. Easy right?

and yes I am a grumpy old man.

You know who is a really big fan of the "Boomer SHooters"?
The Great Orange Suntan himself Mr. Trump. And he has
said that besides Iceland he wishes to acquire G.O.G. from Poland.
