a tread for the boomer shooters here ! or " doom-like " games if you are old enough to remember !

those fps play like the old games of the nineties. old school gameplay vs hordes of ennemies, keys to unlock progression, powerup bonus and healthpacks on the ground.. and pure brutality !

What's your favorite ? do you still play those ? do you enjoy more the old ones or the new generation ?

The kids yearn for deliberately level design & purposely placed lighting.

Open world fatigue is a cross genre problem
Anyway, I am Sakuya is a great little Touhou boomer shooter.

The trailers only on steam so give the picture a click if you're interested.

Nightmare Reaper is also fantastic, although it's more of a modern Boomershooter.

Seeing how it has procedural generation & roguelite elements.

Nitemare 3D and Wolfenstein were the only ones I played when they were new aside from Doom.
Blood and Cultic look cool. Those are probably the only ones I'd be interested in as the newer style games don't really appeal to me. Unless it has PS1 style graphics, I'll play nearly anything with that.

To me Blood is king of all first-person shooters, but I love most of the boomshoot genre in general.

I just finished playing through Heretic and am now on Daikatana. It has its issues, but I'm having fun. Better than Blood 2. Good god Blood 2...

Doom is what got me into shooters. I also really love Serious Sam and Quake.

Does Ultrakill count as a boomer shooter? It's Quake-adjacent, but relies a lot on action and weapon combos because it's the DMC formula in FPS form. I think people are always debating if Ultrakill is a boomshoot or not

I don't think so personally. The gameplay is unlike any other FPS from that time. It's closer to Nu-Doom, but even that can be an innacurate comparison.

i've always been against this term because my Dad never played these, all of the people I know that did are Gen X, Boomers were like 40 when these games came out.

but before I derail this with my nonsense, I completely recommend: Ion Fury

Love the genre but I'm kinda sick of it at this point. In the early 2010s people complained about games being too slow and brown but I think the industry has gone too far in the opposite direction.

Its awesome and I bought it for the Ps4 on playstation store.
Also Doom is a classic played it as a kid ;) Serious Sam is also great
And Ion Fury nice game together with Dusk awesome games

Also funny that they are called Boomer shooter as I hardly know any boomers who play them.

I bought the new starship troopers bug war would put you in mind of a 90s FPS. You even have to do the basic training included in the movie.
