My girlfriend SAYS she's okay with me playing video games, but she complains about it every time she gets mad. She also complains about the volume if I'm not using headphones and constantly interrupts to talk about some random thing I don't care about while I'm trying to play even though I've asked her a million times to just ask me to pause. She talks over the game characters while I'm trying to listen to voice overs. It's kind of the worst. I love her dearly, but she consistently makes herself an obstacle to me doing what I enjoy. I hear this is a common problem.

What about your significant other? Do they let you game in peace or are they always giving you a hard time about it?

Well I grew up on gaming family my dad is a gamer (rpg survival horror) my mom also a gamer (point and click adventure) my brother is also a gamer (rpg rhythm) my sister also a gamer (platform puzzle) my niece and nephew are also game (they are random just like me)

I mostly play it either alone or with family (it fun when playing the urvival horror because of the screams)

Sounds nice. All my younger brothers are gamers and I play online with the oldest of them sometimes.

I don't have one currently, but I can talk about exes.

There was one which got curious about games because of me, we played some together, and I don't know if she's still a gamer, the relationship ended amicably so odds are high she still plays.

There was another who did like to nag me about it, because I didn't pay attention to her, since she was pretty annoying about it, that one ended quickly.

Those 2 were the only ones which actually saw me play video games, the others I had, just thought my PC was for work or whatever. And, I don't game on my phone.

I don't have one ::booshy
When you're single, you wish you had a relationship because you're lonely. When you're in a relationship, you might find yourself missing things about being single. It might feel shitty in the moment to be alone, but try to enjoy the good parts of it while you can.

I think relationships need to be examined if you find yourself constantly pestered this way. Balance is a must.

For myself personally, If our personal hobbies need to be watered down to extinction in order to completely satisfy our other half, then I shall keep that other half of me to myself thank you.
Yes, you combat loneliness without a significant other but I'm 29 years old, I've lived a long time without a special man or woman, what's another 61?

That's an excellent way to look at it.

In my experience, and based on what you've said, she may very well be insecure about the fact that your focus is on something else that doesn't expressly benefit her. It may be seen as a silly trope, but nothing seems to make a (miserable) woman angry like seeing a man at peace/resting/etc..

But, on the other hand, my last ex (Kung-Fu Action GF #2) was a bit of a crazy nympho who sometimes had a habit of getting bitchy & annoying when she wanted sex (a rather surreal kind of a problem to have, for sure). So, depending on the circumstances (obviously), it *may* be worth experimenting with smacking/grabbing her butt (while ***PLAYFULLY*** calling her out) when she starts putting herself in the way of what you're doing..
