Oh absolutely!It's not a matter of snobbishness, ubuntu is imo and alot of users opinions, terrible, mainly due to snaps,
In the statistics I shared, Linux Mint (POP!_OS, et. al.) is counted under Ubuntu, because it is Ubuntu based.
I like Ubuntu without SNAPS, so I am happy Using Linux Mint Cinnamon, knowing it is a tweaked Ubuntu under the hood.
Same with Linux Mate, or Linux Mint Mate, it was an answer to Ubuntu moving away from Gnome 2.
Ubuntu is a GREAT starting place. Some people will be satisfied with it, or a friendly derivate.
Some people will dig deeper and use Arch by the way.
