Something that I did with the first few "smartphones" that I bought brand new, that is, from a "brick & mortar" storefront. I would also buy it with a new Otter Box, and to test its effectiveness (because of a story I heard previously) I went directly out to the parking lot and chucked it straight into the air. So that way if it failed to protect the phone I could immediately turn around & go back in the store and demand a refund..
Needless to say, it handled the test flawlessly. So, something that I've done several times over the years is to repeat this in front of people that didn't know any better. I would just chuck my phone up in the air in the middle of a parking lot for the shock-factor and/or to prove a point. It
never failed to freak people out, which was fun..

Because of which:
a) I
swear by Otter Boxes, and
b) I think people are stupid
not to have (at some kind of) a case on their thousand+ dollar phones..
