I own the Genesis Mini and the Genesis Mini 2, among other similar systems. If Sega released any other systems (Master System Mini, Saturn Mini, Dreamcast Mini) I would buy the shit out of them. Sega could have my money. I would just hand it over without question. They've announced that they're not working on any more because they're "not a retro company," although at one point they were trying to make a Saturn Mini and said it was hard to get it working. Do you think they'll ever come to their senses and release another mini, or am I going to have to just build them myself out of Raspberry Pis?

I feel it's unfair that Sega only released two Genesis minis, but four (if I remember correctly) Game Gear minis. Who needs four miniature Game Gears? Just an Excess of Capitalism if you ask me.

Unfunny Story: I thought the Turbografx-16 mini would be a huge failure and would be, like, 50 or 30 bucks pretty quickly. Apparently there were more fans of Johnny Turbo out there than I figured, because it sold out and the prices on used systems is now the kind of number I don't like to look at when a dollar sign is attached.

Yeah, I have a Raspberry Pi 4b and other systems to emulate the TG-16 on. Sure. But does it look like a Turbografx-16? No. I know there's a PC Engine printable file for 3D printers but I don't wanna live in an apartment filled with more toxic chemicals than I am sure exist here already.

Frankly? I doubt it.

Mini-consoles are neat and all, but the selling point was novelty, and that ship has long sailed.

There are much better alternatives made by third parties and for a fraction of the price — it's just not a sound investment for either company nor costumer.

I hear you. I always bet on minis being scalped rather than dropping in price which is the only reason I pay full price for them. (Playstation Classic is the only one I've seen actually drop in price.) Many options for retro-themed Raspberry Pi cases require a 3D printer and I just can't justify spending that kind of money. I also don't have room for that kind of shit because my girlfriend is a hoarder and takes up all our living space with her clutter. If people had more business sense they would sell me 3D-printed cases so I don't have to own a 3D printer myself. I've seen a few examples of that but a great many cases I'll just never have because they require that you 3D print them yourself.

You're probably right, but that's still kind of a let-down. If they don't start producing minis again soon I'll have to find something else to obsessively collect.

Ah no thanks, I'm already annoyed that Sega shut down their Genesis collection on Steam and that the Genesis II Mini has an exclusive version of Phantasy Star II that made the experience smoother.

I'd even take Star Fox 2 on the NSO than it being exclusive to the SNES mini.

Star Fox 2 isn't on NSO? That's stupid. They own the rights and they're no longer making SNES Classic Editions, so they're basically just flushing money down the toilet. It's a pretty good game, too.

SF2 has been on the NSO (not at launch but it got there) and this was probably the best thing about this service (next to finally releasing Panel de Pon to the west without any reskin).

I would've liked a proper compilation on the Switch but I guess that the remake and releasing Adventure on the Gamecube Online was more convenient.

We can only dream. i think sega knows the saturn doesnt have much of a celebraited libary to warrent a mini console and for the dreamcast they probably think the trouble of converting something that's comparable to a ps2 45% smaller not worth it. although i would love another way to play jet set radio natively

No. Minis became unpopular really quickly. SEGA joined in pretty late on the craze as is and made 2. We are not getting a third, they got most of the well known Genesis games anyway and no one cares too much for whatever's on the add-ons. Sad truth.
We're more likely to see SEGA make a new col- aaaaand its delisted

If Sega is "not a retro company," why do they rerelease the same few dozen Genesis roms every few years? I think somebody's full of shit.

Sega is surfing on nostalgia but in fact they barely care outside of the Genesis when it comes to their legacy...
