PS5 Why the PS5 is the worst PlayStation ever

Better off wasting cash on a PC than on a PS5
If I didn't play the latest and greatest games I'd agree but since I always do, I can't deal with a PC. I can't imagine myself suffering through Dragon's Dogma 2 on PC. All my friends bitched and moaned that they couldn't play it while I enjoyed my game without hiccups.

Even as someone who bought a PS5 at launch and then a PS5 Pro with a disc drive, it really is the worst generation of PS. At least it plays PS4 games where you still had WipEout Omega Collection, Gravity Rush 1 & 2, The Last Guardian, Tearaway, Concrete Genie, Knack 1 & 2, Medievil Remake, Driveclub, Detroit: Become Human, etc.

Now it seems like every game -- except for Astrobot -- is the same cinematic third-person narrative game with pretty graphics. I want more weird games, more AA games, etc.

But to some people PC gaming is like trying to fly a plane while console gaming is like riding a bike. In the end it's not about need but preference. Then the actual topic turns into "why a person buy console X but not Y". Nintendo found a solution with a hybrid console system that you can play on your home TV and you can also play it wherever you go. Because of it Nintendo Switch idea is very useful.

However as you said PC gaming worths your while and it's not horror story as much as console gamers believes.

They think we have to buy new PC parts in every 2 years or something but in reality unless you have no care for RTX 144 FPS 4K gaming and you only care to play games in normal ways without caring about obsession then you may play games with same PC with minor changes like RAM for 10 years or so. Well I got used to low quality gaming so I'm ok if the game runs in 16 FPS. I can even go low as much as 720p, no biggie lol. So because they believe PC is something always has to change they wanna buy a console and play it for like 7 years. But the thing is if they are okay with low quality console games then they are okay to play games for like 10 years on same PC without even change but sometimes RAM change is needed but it's not biggie. And TBH they may imagine handling a PC is like being good at car engine or something but it's more like playing with lego lol. It's just obvious parts has to be inserted into obvious parts and that's it.

The other thing is they think we have to bother with playing PC games as much as how we back then played DOS games by writing special codes just to run the game lol. They think PC games tend to be buggy or usually we have to bother a lot to even play a game. But then what we did is very simple things, and kinda Windows 10 and 11 works like how new consoles are anymore. You auto-update and your PC is ready for gaming always, as much as how new consoles are. So it's not like trying to fly a plane anymore as much as they fear from.

At this point in this age if a person doesn't play the games on PC when they can IDK what are there excuses. Back then we had to get a console for exlusives but relatively not anymore. PC offers better ease of use and experience. You don't have to wait for game fixes because PC community and PC system make things fast and easy. You can customize game itself for your liking. IDK should we giveaway free cookies to convince people PC Master Race™ is better? lol
Exclusives are there to promote hardware sales and never otherwise, as for how effective that is in this day and age is debatable, if Nintendo did not have their own IPs and exclusive titles they will be out of the game by now, combine that with passionate and legacy knowledge of games and toys and then you have an excuse to charge premium.

Sony on the other hand are idiots that do not understand the legacy of IPs they are sitting on

OPs PS5 and himself will be happy with another jack and daxter/sly cooper/ rachet and clank/ maybe uncharted spin off,

What about Killzone? Resistance? Demon souls? Bloodborne, heck even better!

MEDIEVIL, TWISTED METAL, LEGEND OF THE DRAGOON, and the list goes on.
a petty for the PS5, may it have a good life cycle.

Fuck Sony for being morons on their own turf, its the PSVITA all over again.

Yeah. PS Vita is an amazing hardware but they wasted it with visual novels lol. TBH after PS2, only exception of a console they didn't waste was PSP lol.

As for Nintendo, gotta appreciate how they play their cards and stick to their guns. On the other hand IDK why Sony trash their own guns and rely on others. Now the game they rely on is Death Stranding 2 lol.

But then since PS2-era Sony is out of touch of video game industry and in recent years they got more out of touch. For example it was obvious that Concord would fail so IDK what Sony was even thinking lol. If in next 10 years Sony had announced they won't release a PlayStation anymore then I wouldn't be surprised lol.

PS5 was a must-buy for me because of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16.
Being able to install PS4 games to an external HDD has been a godsend, now I can have all my PS4 games installed between my PS5 and PS4 rather than having to uninstall one game to make room for another.

In my opinion consoles have been ass sense Gen 7. Overly expensive to the point it´s almost cheaper to just get a PC and today the PS5 and Switch 2 is so damn expensive yet so damn weak. I wan´t my console to be able to run all games. Good luck to Switch 2 to run any unreal 5 game which has become standard.

Honestly I quit being console gamer after PS3 and I been a console gamer ever sense nes but today to hell with modern consoles.

Yep. Switch 2 hard disappointment. Imagine release a console when people talk about PS6 but Switch 2 is barely better than PS4 lol. I guess people will enjoy streaming games on Switch 2 play it just like how Resident Evil 3 Remake works on Switch 1 lol.

Our PS5 is our Monster Hunter Wilds machine. My PC can't handle it and my nephews don't want to take the risk...on PS5, at least we don't have to worry about an update breaking our game judging from the varied complaints from Steam talking on how X update made their game worse or outright crashing their game. It'll probably be our main machine for new Capcom games considering how badly they've been optimizing their PC games now (not including retro collections).

Short answer :

My Personal (long) answer :
Sony had alot of Studios under their belt but alot of them simply vanished/died/merged with other Studios but still they have not brought a fresh new game out which truly represents the Ps5 perfectly .

Maybe if they had a Studio that made a huge quantity of games that we're revolutionary and creative at the same time , that would be great . Especially one with an Owl as an Logo and with the word "Psy-" on their name and ending with "-gnosis" that sticks out , that would help them out immensly . Man .... If they had it in the past im sure they wouldnt thrown them out and understand their great potential... OHH WAIT !!!!

They can't make games in a short space of time, like they used to. The big companies bought out the creative smaller companies, so creativity is lacking. You are paying more for less, regardless of graphics.

I stop at 7th generation era because I really don't like dlc I still enjoy my ps3 and Wii this my last console buy I don't if I ever buy PS4 or switch

Nothing beats a simple game from ps1 and PS2 I really play for the hidden gems especially Jrpgs.

The PS4 is still my least favorite Sony console of all time but I get that people looking for PS5 exclusives would feel that way about that system. While its library isn't compelling in terms of exclusives thanks to games coming to PC on top of the general drought of content, it at least runs super well, has PS4 backwards compatibility and a far more functional UI. At its worst its just a significantly better PS4 and at its best it still has some solid titles and even as someone with a decent gaming PC it tends to be a more convenient way to play AAA games I buy.

I think it's vastly overpriced (at least in my neck of the woods) without doing anything to justify such a hefty price tag, but I can't comment further until I actually play one.

The main "issue" with the PS5, and modern gaming in general, is a lack of exclusives. Any company that isn't Nintendo wants their games to be on every platform to sell to the widest market possible. And now with even the Switch getting modern games put onto it, it's becoming less and less worth it to bother with PS5 or Xbox.
PC has everything that isn't Mario, and that's where Nintendo steps in (unless you use the "Nintendo PC Service" but I digress.)

Consumer-friendly practices has killed modern consoles. Since we aren't having anymore major leaps in graphics or mechanics or anything, all we're left able to sell is shortening load times and better frame rates, something PCs had anyway. It sucks. I fucking hate PC, but it's unfortunately the best way to play now. I don't know how to work this damn thing! Just play my game and shut up! Think I know what a sticky key is?!

Last console I bought was a PS3.

More convenient to have all my games on Steam, though I do use a PS5 controller!

I find the PS5 controller to be considerably better than the Xbox design. I had used the Xbox controller for a few years but my trigger finger started hurting from use of the shoulder/trigger buttons.

So I decided to go back to the PS design, and the moment I held the controller it just felt right. It fit perfectly in my hands, which felt relaxed in comparison to the Xbox version. Perhaps it was due to muscle memory from all the PSX to PS3 years, but holding this controller in my hands immediately felt like a relief!

So however the console is, I can say the PS5 controller is one of the best ever in terms of comfort for me, and possibly even the best.

Yet Sony arguably had 0 bad consoles objectively while even Nintendo, Sega and Microsoft got a hiccup with the Virtual Boy, the Wii U, the Saturn, the original Xbox, Xbox One and some others.

No, the Pocketstation doesn't count.

PS5 has only one game I wanna play and that's Elden Ring. For a comparison PC-FX has two games I wanna play::eggmanlaugh
Then you better keep a PS4, because on PS5 the game runs worse lol. I've seen people using their PS5 but using the PS4 version of the game, that's actually the best way to play it on consoles.

But back to the topic, PS5 is the worst console from Sony because, as someone mentioned here, it has no games, past gen graphics are enough to be quite similar to current gen ones, so the perception is that PS5 isn't that needed at all. Specially because the hardware has been fucked up so much thanks to Unreal Engine 5, RayTracing and other graphical intensive crap that nobody requested but they had to release to keep you thinking you need to keep updating your GPU.

Remember well, PS5 was released with the premise of gaming at 2160p rendered resolution, and I've yet to see a game being rendered at that resolution. Even in PS5 Pro, maybe 10% of games run at native 2160p without upscaling AI crap. I am truly ashamed to see games being rendered 1080p or even below 1080p on a PS5 Pro. So, you spend 750€ in a machine that performs worse than a gaming PC of that price. And no, it's absolutely not the same seeing something upscaled that rendered at native resolution, you will see artifacts here and there, I saw it with my own eyes in different TV's, and it's incredible annoying, because I seek the perfect clear (I don't mean sharp) image.

Since Sony moved to America they are doing shitty stuff every other day. They did in the past, of course, but not as much as now. PS5 is undead and there is no way to turn it back to normal after 5 years, Sony won't waste more money on that and will invest it in a better console that will be released in 18-24 months tops.

But for that to happen they need to forget about the absurd idea of competing with PC, creating a well made and rounded machine without presumptuous specs, with a fair price, built-in drive, solid backwards compatibility and full support, which means telling the users as soon as possible to forget about PS5 and move to PS6 because it will be worth it.

Only that way they will create another great console like PS4 was at that time, if not greater.
