Why PlayStation mascots always fall from grace?

I think Astro Bot is the best choice they've ever had. I would go all in on him as my mascot right now if I were in charge of the Playstation brand.

I thought the mascot of Sony Playstation is Ape Escape or Parappa the Rapper
