Ah, well I guess it didn't really rate an announcement or anything. Short version, it's kinda vague and mostly leaves folks questioning why it was used. Swapped it out for the Phoenix Wright "thinking" reaction instead.

R.I.P. Sonic, got confused while running too fast and didn't notice the pit. Also morning all, it's finally the part of the year where I go back to work so I'm gonna have a more regular sleep schedule instead of whatever goblin hours I had before.​

What were your thoughts on the Direct?

Literally the entire internet seems to agree: Hottest video game presentation in a while, cold prices. But there's so much uproar about it (like every corner of the net) that it would be weird if Nintendo didn't do anything.

I liked the Sonic reaction. I like to think it was used more than angry bonk. More funny too. At least it's still here.

Oh, and in other news, certain fighting game communities are going crazy. Smash fans have been holding their breath since the direct, are lacking oxygen, & now mii swordfighter is becoming meta. Tekken 8's S2 update apparently also destroyed the game & people are quitting left & right.

Not to mention the wackiness of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves getting Ronaldo and Maximillan DJ Salvatore Ganacci. Those announcements felt like a fever dream.

I've been hearing some bad things with Tekken 8, but I've been pretty out of the loop from it. I haven't played much since a little before the season 1 dlc started properly launching, partially because I was getting really annoyed by all the Victor players. What'd they do that's got everyone in such a tizzy?

Also with Smash, I really just have to wonder how they even can follow up Ultimate.​

Silly names from general threads is what keep us alive :3 is like my friends discord chat named "Breakfast" for some random dude selling crappy menus as breakfast for valentines :3

I don't own nor play Tekken 8, but it seems like the update basically overturned every character (which is what everybody says on paper), but watching various clips show that everybody can do stuff like 50% health combos. Seems to be substantial enough that players are severely reviewbombing the game.

If they're gonna do anything with smash, just revive it à la Mario Kart 8's booster course pass (which I still think was an interesting move that came out of nowhere). Nintendo avoided showing anything Smash-related in that direct for some reason. They know it's one of their best-selling franchises!

That's not exactly completely new for Tekken, but it's certainly not something everyone could do before. I could see that being a bit of a problem if they didn't improve any of the defensive options, especially if the tracking in that game is still as ridiculous as it was at launch.

I think they probably didn't show Smash because of Air Ride. Sakurai working on that might mean at minimum he's taking the time to develop something else, but he himself in a few interviews has implied he's looking for someone else to take over developing Smash. I'm expecting it to be a while before we see the next one.​

As funny as a clown emoji may be, I could see it being trouble if it upsets some folks.
