What are some of the most helpful gaming tips you ever came across?

First in mind for me is the legendary Call of Duty 4 tutorial advice -

"Switching to your sidearm is always faster than reloading".

It works well for pretty much any shooter game and saved me countless times!

Also another thing I came across the internet is -

"HP isn't a measure for how strong you are, so don't be careless, it is simply the amount of times you're allowed to make a mistake without losing."

And also :loldog-

"If you have no idea what the hell you're even doing... your opponent surely will have no clue!"

::winkfelix

"Later is now." Saw somebody say it on a forum ages ago in a discussion about conserving all of your resources in an RPG. I think most of us do it: "I'm low on HP, BUT I won't use one of my 15 max healing potions because what if I need it later?" No. Later is NOW. Use it NOW. In most games you can get more resources, don't hoard.

Something along the lines of "Standing still is death." Applies for most games, but it especially comes to mind in things like Team Fortress 2 (might have been a loading screen tip in that game) and stuff like Doom Eternal where there's tons of shit coming at you all the time. Jump erratically and keep your ass moving.

One that doesn't really apply these days but certainly did in the Sierra point n click age was "Save your game, and don't overwrite." It's very nice when you fuck up or even softlock yourself to have an older save to go back so you only lose 30 mins to 2 hours of progress at MOST instead of having to replay the whole game.

To win the game you must defeat me, John Romero (but backwards)

James Chen's sentiment on fighting game comebacks.

"If you have ever done a perfect, then even with a single pixel of life left you can make any comeback."

That guy in Viridian City telling you that he's too drunk to catch Pokemon but still trying (and failing) to do so was amazing to me... and I think it even evolved into a full life lesson for me.

"Don't get wasted, kids! You'll lose your "magic touch" (and not even literal rats would respect you)!" xD

The best gaming advice is to take breaks.
