Which user would you go on a date with?

The only sitcom i liked, is one that only spanish speakers care about.

Apparently is no longer on air, such a shame, it raised 3 generations of latinos, its as iconic as it gets, only for us hispanics, and maybe brazilians as well, that is.

Some guy made a good video about it:
I'm curious! Whenever we hear a talk about sitcom, it's almost usually about American Sitcom, does Hispanic sitcom (I'm sorry if that's not the correct term, but what do you call it?) differs greatly from it's American counterpart? What's it's impact to Latino's culture in general? Any notable names beside Chespirito?

Does anyone watch british comedians?
Out of the various comedians I've watched, I find them to be the funniest. They have a lot of those kind of gameshows where they just pit a bunch of comedians against each other and have them interact.

My favorite is easily Johnny Vegas. Dude's totally absurd:

British comedians have been my life for the past 20 years! I'm not crazy about chat shows (though some are certainly good), but I love their stand-up and sitcoms and podcasts. Huge influence on me! ::thumbsupwario

Cool!
Who're your favorites? I'm particularly fond of (apart from Johnny Vegas) Bob Mortimer, Richard Ayoade, Roisin Conaty, David Mitchell, Sean Lock, Jo Brand and Joe Wilkinson.

I watched that LOL show a few days ago and almost died during some parts. Not being allowed to laugh at funny stuff has always been a huge weak spot of mine:

FUCK THE BEST PART WAS CUT OUT TRY THIS ONE INSTEAD

The technical term would be "Comedia de situación" which just means Situational Comedy (sitcom), but no one really calls it that, its just comedia (comedy), or chiste (joke), or de risa (of laughter).

There aren't as many as american ones, pure sitcoms are very few and far between, as comedy is usually something added to Telenovelas or just TV-series in general, usually as a break from the over the top melodrama (which can be comedic in on itself), so its usually tied to Romcoms, otherwise, i can barely name anything (Vecinos, La Familia P. Luche, and Padres e Hijos).

As for themes, Latinamerican comedy is more about making fun of every day life, including some negative things, like making fun of getting mugged, or making fun of hiding from your landlord to avoid paying rent, or making fun of your car not working, or the usual stuff, like making fun of politicians or celebrities.

Sitcoms? Besides El Chavo, barely anything really, the closest stuff that gets the fanfare is usually Telenovelas which have comedic moments, although some well known comedians dub movies.

Keep in mind El Chavo was so succesful it was only taken off air around 2020, so if its Sitcoms, it was El Chavo, there are some other shows, but none made it THAT big.
Any notable names beside Chespirito?
You see, in Latin America, Mexico pretty much dominated TV, so if you ask a Latino, they will give you Mexican ones, and ones from their own country.

Mexican ones: Cantinflas, Eugenio Derbez, Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo Pallás, and Adal Ramones.

From My country: Fernando Gaitán, and Andrés López, are the only ones i know are kinda known overseas for their work.

I like Casado Con Hijos, the argentinian version with Guillermo Franchella, really funny shit.

Go figure! Last thing I expected here was someone else mentioning this LOL version. Yeah, also watched this one a couple of nights ago & some parts were definitely funny as hell. Don't really know much british comedians besides Richard Ayoade but glad every great moment included him lol.
The only british "comedians" I've truly been watching over the years is/was the Top Gear trio. 🍿
