I've been meaning to drop a huge rant about the new Ren & Stimpy reboot show that I recently watched in one of the TV threads, but I can actually just sum my thoughts in one sentence here:

"It's like a show made by people who had the Ren & Stimpy franchise described to them, but never actually watched it."
– Gorse, 2025
It's not so much atrocious as it is bland, which is probably the worst possible thing it could have been. Adult Party Cartoon is far better than this slop, and deserves a critical re-evaluation in the modern age. I'm 100% sure Paramount will be writing it off this year for its taxes. OH WELL
Post-Modernism, and it harkens back to what alot of people were saying in the Death of Sincerity thread. Is there a meme term for this cycle of slop yet? It seems like every other franchise getting rebooted is being made by people that hate the franchise, hate the audience and generally hate their lives.
“Slop” is the perfect word for it. It’s a stream of homogenous, interchangeable sludge squirted directly into the hog trough to be devoured by the grunting, bloated chunkertons. Eat the slop, you silly beasts, and grow fat for the slaughter! Is there a meme term for this cycle of slop yet?

Writer who did Sandman, Coraline, and Good Omens, which he collaborated on with Terry Pratchett (who wrote the Discworld series). Just got involved in SOME LEGAL ISSUES over the last few months; is probably now blacklisted from the industry. (Well, at least for a few years, anyhow.)
All right at least I know Terry Pratchett.Writer who did Sandman, Coraline, and Good Omens, which he collaborated on with Terry Pratchett (who wrote the Discworld series). I know you’re not supposed to say stuff like this, but he always came off as a total creep to me. I can’t say I’m surprised. (<——— PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE DECLARATION)
It’s a nice sentiment, and I agree with you, but this’ll never happen. Hollywood scandals have been happening since before the birth of Hollywood. Even if the traditional celebrity system dies — which it might — we’ll just collectively shift our eyeballs onto e-celebs on Twitch or whatever.Maybe if we stop idolizing celebrities, they'll stop acting up.

Is this the future? Are humanity doomed to become simps? It’s a nice sentiment, and I agree with you, but this’ll never happen. I’m… gulp… afraid to say…Are humanity doomed to become simps?
