I have been playing some games to write reviews about them eventually.

Since i haven't gotten any divine inspiration for any history article.

i bought the original gex from Good Old Games, haven't tried the sequels tho

I paid good money for the PS1 version of Gex on my PSP as a kid. That was a fun handheld game. I still like Gex 1 the best out of the entire series – in fact, it's probably the only one I'd ever want to go back to. It's a solid little 2D platformer.

as someone who has been a fan of the series since i was a kid this sentence upsets me. No, they don't suck. there's a lot of good sonic games out there, it's a shame that a lot of the series is really flawed though.

Sonic Mania is good, right ?

I love the Genesis Sonic games to Hell and back, and I didn't really think Mania was all that. They chose some really awful levels to return from the originals.

I respect your opinion. But Sonic DX Adventure on Game Cube was my life when I was younger. The Chao nurseries were my favorite.

oh yeah i loved mania, especially mania plus. the physical editions of that came with a lot of cool stuff like an artbook. my only pet peeve with the mania games is that you can't replay the special stages from the secret debug mode level select.

Listen I know this is gonna sound like sacrelege, and I'm very aware that it is, but well... The only sonic game I've played that I really particularly enjoyed was Sonic '06. Before I get killed, let me explain: I've tried the 2d Sonic games and just found that the gameplay style as a whole is really not for me. I was hoping there might have been a chance I'd be into mania, because before I played that I really wasn't into the originals on Genesis, but none of them ever really clicked with me. I played Sonic Unleashed, but the problem there is I played the PS2 version. When you got it at the time, I didn't have a PS3 nor did I know there was a version on PS3, or that the PS2 version was heavily stripped down. When I played '06 though, I played a significant portion of the game at a friend's house and largely went without experiencing glitches, so I just generally had a good time.

06 has a lot of cool ass parts. Like I've said elsewhere. I think there's only a select few sonic games that are objectively bad. Most people are too hard on the series because it's not SA2 or S3&K
