Which user would you go on a date with?

Eh, learning very basic Japanese isn't too hard really, and I wouldn't say I'm fluent or literate in it either. I know just enough to pretend to know what I'm doing.
It depends on how good you are at learning foreign languages. I get by with english because it was always easy to learn for me since middle school. I tried with korean few years ago, but quit because it would have been pointless, same for japanese.

I wish I would have kept up with the year of Japanese I took in community college a few years ago. I still have my books and stuff, but mostly my current knowledge is whatever I've learned thus far through Duolingo. I did buy a couple travel books to learn some common phrases before I visit. For some reason I never forgot that jitensha means bicycle and eigakan means theater. If I need to use a bicycle to go see a movie while there I suppose that will come in handy.

Spanish is my native language, and i am fully fluent in English.

My friend is learning japanese and he sometimes teaches me a bit, i can speak and understand a little bit, but i gave up with their nonsense alphabet, a language is supposed to be practical for crying out loud.

I can also understand some spoken mandarin and korean.

All you need from a language is to know, left, right, ahead, behind, go, and stop.

I never took a foreign language or anything. I started teaching myself a little German, but got distracted away from it and had no way to really consistently learn it.

My nephew taught himself the Russian Alphabet when he was like... five, though.

My bet is some centuries down the line the use of kanji/hanzi will subside, languages tend to simplify over time. It will be a cultural loss, but egyptians don't write in hieroglyphs anymore

I ain't even gonna mention wanting to learn Japanese at this point. My lazy ass ain't doing squat. I did pick my bass back up though. Been trying to slap my way through Take it on the Run by REO Speedwagon and Hysteria by Def Leppard. Was also getting my ass kicked by Call Me by Blondie, that one is definitely the ultimate project rn. Maybe I'll build myself back up instead of wallowing all day. Hopefully lol. We better reach page 1000 by the end of the year.

I always thought that learning a foreign language would be for a useful purpose if you need to. You can learn english because it's the second world's spoken language, and you can use it in real life as well as on the internet. Why would I want to learn a language I will never use? Like japanese or korean for example? Also actually (or maybe I always was) too stupid to learn something that hard to master.

Personally I just think languages are fun and interesting to know more about, so that’s enough fuel for me.
I’d like to learn Korean, French, Japanese, Italian, Finnish and Latin just for fun, but it’s intimidating and I’m lazy so it takes a very long time.

I speak my native language (Swedish) and (I think?) fluent English, and enough Norwegian and German to get by if I were to go there as a tourist.

(This looks like I’m bragging because I can’t put my second paragraph above the quote, but I was just joining the conversation, sorry if it looked like I was bragging.)

Korean is one of the easiest languages to learn, you can learn how to read at a pre-k level in 15 minutes.

A lot of people have been distancing themselves on this forum again; was there another issue that I havent been aware of?
