I’m sure you saw, but Muchi Muchi Pork and Pink Sweets got announced on Steam this week. I never played them but am looking forward to the opportunity to check them out.I played so many shmups thanks to emulation. Toaplan, Raising, Cave shmups... Oh boy Cave. I wish they released more ports on Steam. I want to see Futari, Espgadula 2, Pink Sweets, Saidaioujou on PC.
As for real hardware, the only ones I got to play in the arcades were Gradius 3 and Zed Blade (the latter has a fantastic OST)
You are not obligated to get a 1CC to enjoy a shmup, but if that is your objective try:God I need to try dodonpachi so bad but I have no idea of where to start and I'm grinding Samidare right now, I'm scared of not bein good enough to play old araced shmups lol even if I did love playing a bit of mushihimesama. I would love arcade shmups but I just need a or multiple sensei to teach me and guide me lol.
Thanks for all the great advice !! I'll definitely try all of that !!You are not obligated to get a 1CC to enjoy a shmup, but if that is your objective try:
- Reading full extent of the jam
- Using savestates to practice stages and bosses
- Watching replays on youtube and literally just copying them (jaimers, juju kenobi and the like)
- Learn the basic techniques (tap-dodging, restreaming, looking at the bullets coming at you instead of the player ship) [try the tutorial mode for "angel at dusk" on steam, it's in the demo!]
- Stay DETERMINED and watch your MOTIVATION!!! Ideally you would wanna practice every day but if that is becoming not fun for you STOP AND DO SOMETHING ELSE, the game will be there when you return...
I mean... I started with mushihimesama too, the steam port on novice modeThanks for all the great advice !! I'll definitely try all of that !!
Would you have any game recommendations for a beginner like me ?

More people get to experience more of RS34 / Milestone's incredible games! I love Illvelo and I especially wanted to play more of Swamp but the language barrier was particularly annoying in this so a full English translation and port to PC is amazing!
