A few days ago, I started playing In The Hunt from PS1 on PSP.

What a great game!
With that Metal Slug look




However, for some reason I don't know, i can't hear the music in the game.

You need cdda enabler, it's a plugin to enable the music of some ps1 eboots

I grew up with Mega Drive shmups, Thunder Force IV, Trouble Shooter, M.U.S.H.A. etc. But talking strictly arcade realeses im a huge fan of the Darius series and the Psikyo stgs like Sengoku Blade, Strikers series and Gunbird.
On the CAVE side i played an insane amount of hours of Mushihimesama and the original Deathsmiles. Loved the first Donpachi as well...also i would like to see some more love for Toaplan shooters like Batsugun!

I love the Switch version of Psyvariar, but I like the Dreamcast even better because of the way spinning is handled.
I'll definitely have to try this one!

Zanac on NES, and Zanac Neo on PS1 rule! I know not arcade but the music on the PS1 game is nice.
Deathsmiles and Espgaluda 2, just found one Cave did that I never played Guwange.

Galaga, supposedly there is a newer one Galaga Assault, but I have never come across this machine.
I have heard Devils Engine on switch is nice, never tried it because everyone says it is hard.
Anything Darius as long as you get the arcade ports, the smooshed on one screen isn't the way it was originally intended.

Just bought DoDonpachi Resurrection and Ghost blade HD 2 absolute whopping good games. Im going nuts on Resurrection with close to 600 hits.

Just got 835 hits on DoDonPachi Resurrection game is insane.

You will love deathsmiles. I first saw this game at the arcade before it released to 360. It was arcade ufo in Austin, TX. I knew once I played that Port Town level that the game was going to be a huge success. That OST is one of the best game soundtracks ever easily top 10 of all time, up there amongst the PC Engine CD games where all the heavenly OSTs reside. I still haven't 1cc it yet, I gave it a decent attempt a few years back. I might try to devote some time to getting my achievement. I made it to the final stage, but it goes on for so long that it gets very nerve racking to resource manage the bombs.

I'm surprised that 3D Shmups like G-Darius and R-Type Delta with dynamic 3D angles weren't done more often.

Maybe it's not as visibly good or arcade players want a normal angle.

Honestly it's the best way to play Gradius at all. Recovery in these games suck and it's the whole reason the term "Gradius Syndrome" was invented. Good luck and have fun!

3D graphics shmups came out riiiight at the end of the arcade era and the later consoles, I guess they were harder or more expensive to make, and the shmup industry was starting to falter at that point. Not much success in the arcades, not too many game sales, genre started to become a niche.

Now, speaking of shmups with alternate points of view, I can recommend two modern games: Astebreed and Eschatos, two games that change up their view angle a LOT between stages and are a lot of fun.

I've gotten to like the Raiden Fighters series,as the last 2d arcade shooters before this new route of Raiden took over. Raiden III on the PS2 is pretty cool tho, I wish I had the remixed version on the Switch!

i played IV on the arcade last month. Had my friend co-op with me. He couldn't get pass the 2nd level

Is the top of the screen being the direction of forward movement a strict requirement of the genre?
