Where are my Arcade shmup fans at?

I've never bought anything from Steam (I should sort that out really!) but I really want these:
DEVIL BLADE REBOOT
ZeroRanger
BLUE REVOLVER
Earthion
GRADIUS ORIGINS
(Gonna get the last 2 on Switch).

I'd also recommend Crimzon Clover World EXplosion and DRAINUS
(Got these 2 on Switch).
thanks crimson clover is 1 i want to buy possibly for tonight

Forgot all about Gunvein!
Hopefully they'll release Danmaku Unlimited 4 WYVER ULTRA before the end of the year
that danmaku unlimited is in my wishlist looks superb

What is danmaku unlimited 3 like? its going for a good price on steam.

DU3 is pretty good. Very nice heavy metal soundtrack, a LOT of bullets on screen and some unique bullet canceling mechanics with it's graze-powered beam.

Believe it or not i play shmups on silent mainly with my dance music i can still get multiple hits same way i play fortnite with the motion sensors on rather than sound

Oh, enjoying the soundtrack is almost half the fun in playing a shmup for me! I need to play one a LOT to even start considering turning off the sounds, probably because I'm grinding a part repeatedly. Syncing up the gameplay to the audio is super important, it's like learning to play a song, routing a shmup.

It's really good but pretty hectic, even for a bullet hell! I like the lock-on radar missile mechanic

That's another decent one. The mechanic where the bullets turn into harmless ghost bullets when you destroy the enemies which you can then collect is different

Hadn't played either of them for a few months so just had a quick blast on em!

If anyone plays and develops thoughts on the one I mentioned, I'd love to hear them. Not affiliated. Not shilling. Just don't want to be alone in the room I guess...

I don't mean to bury your post just found that hidden NES shmup gem again that I tried some years back, Gun-Nac. Worth a try if you never experienced a quality NES shmup.

Been playing Super Raiden for awhile now. Just this morning, I was able to clear the first loop without having to use a credit.

Made it all the way to the 2-3 boss before losing my remaining lives (lost a majority of them on 1-10).

Psikyo and Toaplan felt so unique.

But I have barely played their games...

I was trying to figure out if there was a sub genre of shumps for ones where you walk on the ground giving you control of advancing the screen. Are these called anything else beside shmup?

How long before this thread devolves into Bad Apple covers, remixes, and shitpost remixes?

Think this would do great with an HD remaster like sturmwind.

This new game on Google play store called acecraft sky hero released. It looks like cup head, but is vertical. Just now playing through the tutorial, didn't know Google play games were quite this polished.

I spend the most time playing SHMUPs on Steam nowadays. I have the well-known ones like Mushihimesama, Dodonpachi, Ikaruga, Dariusburst, etc. However, what I like about the platform is discovering indie titles.

The games I've enjoyed a lot include Crimzon Clover, Angel at Dusk, Danmaku Unlimited 2/3, and Escathos. But there's whole bunch of titles to explore: Trouble Witches, Blue Revolver, Wolflame, Mecha Ritz, and some are even free like Jigoku Kisetsukan and Terra Feminarum.

Outside of Steam, I like Kenta Cho's games, especially rRootage and Titanion. I also like X.X Gameroom's works, and my fave is Eden's Aegis.

With emulation, there are too many great games to list down! But when playing retro SHMUPs on the go, I prefer to do so on the RG ARC-D.

Omg an emulation handheld with Saturn controls? this is amazing! Is it really good for arcade shmups? This seems perfect for those retro games. Now I want one!

Despite the Saturn style controls, it's unfortunately not powerful enough for decent Saturn emulation (it handles PS1 really well though and can run DuckStation/SwanStation). I got it mainly as a Genesis/Game Gear/Master System device, and it's perfect for that purpose.

Controls are great. I use an 8BitDo M30 for shooters on PC/console, and this feels similar to that. And as the name implies, it's pretty good for arcade style games too like beat-em-ups and fighting games, especially with the Sega-style dpad.

I’ve played more Layer Section than is good for my mental health.

Eh, who am I kidding? A Layer Section play a day keeps the doctor away, as they say!
