Shin Sakura Taisen.
I thought Sega stopped caring after the last game, 10 years of nothing, despite it's relevancy in Japan (way WAAAYY more than Sonic, to say it is arguably the most successful Sega IP there is an understatement), all we ever got is the yearly Kayou shows and nothing for the games.
I remembered it clearly, March 29th 2019, I watched Sega livestream announcing all their new projects and said they have a surprise in the end.
Sure enough they released a teaser, another Persona, I groaned...
Then the cherry blossom petal hits.
Then the Taisho era timecard.
Then the Imperial Tokyo mentioned.
Then the THEME!
I literally shoot up of my seat and fucking scream in joy, not just me, even all the audience who's been sitting for the last 50 minutes stood up, roars and give applause before the intro even finished. Kohei Tanaka name appeared on screen and I can hear the all-star casts, then they show the new Koubu, it was a magical moment. Can't sleep that night because I'm too excited.
I pre-ordered the limited edition right after it's announced (and the regular English release since I can't read Japanese so yeah I have 2 of these), I find it really cool they distribute special PS4 theme for old fans by using the Taisho newsletter email from way back in early 2000s, I still use it to this day to flex at people ("See this shit right here? You won't find it on PS Store").
This is also the last game I platinumed in single sitting, almost 26 hours total.
