When was the last time you were excited for a game release?

My darling Hephzibah promised to stop by Montgomery Ward after his shift at the incandescent bulb factory, and pick up the latest trifle for me and the children.

Marvel Rivals, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and The Thing Remastered. I was very interested in all three games and I was not disappointed once I've played them. Each week I played the games were the most fun I've had. I'm still playing Marvel Rivals each day along with Indy, since it's a fairly big game and I have yet to beat it.

Soul Hackers 2, right up until the reveal dropped (Sega marketing had been hyping it up w/ key art from the original Soul Hackers in the preceding week), and I learned that Sega had bait and switched my sorry ass again.

Being a big fan of the Alien franchise: Aliens Colonial Marines... after getting so many bad reviews I ended up not buying it lol... but man, I really liked the cinematic trailer. : )
with the funny AI fix having been known for a couple of years now, I wonder what the current-day reception is. Surely with working AI it's at least an ok game, right?

There are few games now and then I look forward to like the new ninja gaiden game, city of wolves, virtua fighter 5 revo, etc. But the last time I was really excited for game which I couldn't wait to get my hands on was Assassins Creed Orgins. That was back when I still liked Ubisoft games and was excited to see the new approach they would take with the series.

The legend of heros remake looks good ,And rebirth for PC is sooooo foine

I forget Xenoblade games and Elden Ring also Bloodborne and MGS 5

Define "excited", for me the last game i'd say i was outright excited for was probably enchanted arms on the 360 (not a perfect game, but i do enjoy it).

The last game i'd say i was waiting to be released though would be Ys X Nordics though, but i don't generally get "excited" for alot of stuff anymore at my age.

I guess it depends on what one means by excited. There's plenty of games I'm looking forward to. But the last game that really had that "I gotta have this" feeling for me was probably Breath of the Wild.

Elden Ring I was also pretty excited for, but was generally content waiting for, whereas BotW I felt like I *had* to play it. And when my pre-order was delayed I just played a leaked copy on my Wii U at the time lol.

When I was younger I grinded Payday 2 like my life depended on it, so when Payday 3 got announced I almost flipped in my chair.

Too bad the game turned out like it did.

The last two games are Armored Core 6, remember yelling to the top of my lungs at 3am when i saw it announced in last years game awards if i remember correctly, scared the shit out of my family.
The second is Dragon's Dogma 2... and we all know how this one ended up... i still haven't finished it, it's plagued with issues besides the shitty performance, for me it crashes at random when opening menus, making it borderline impossible to progress, steam this year charted over 200 sessions started of DD2 in my account, around 82 hours, i barely did the first region story and was currently being directed to the second region; Bakbathal or however it's spelled, i ended up dropping it after 8 consecutive crashes during a 2 hour period, most of the time i was just redoing the progress lost to crashes... i'm still considering sending an email to Steam to see if i can get a refund.. and i was HYPED about it... loved the first Dragon's Dogma to death, although rough and basic, it's clearly felt when you play it that some parts where cut short, it's a damn masterclass in a lot of aspects, and we could borderline call it a demo...
Now the game i'm excited to play, no necessarily hyped is AI Limit, tried the demo, and it was a really good take on the souls genre.

Soul Hackers 2, right up until the reveal dropped (Sega marketing had been hyping it up w/ key art from the original Soul Hackers in the preceding week), and I learned that Sega had bait and switched my sorry ass again.

This is a very corporate, profit driven, no good very bad move.

Soul Hackers oozes virtual reality cyberpunk occult weirdness and the best the sequel can do is reference a few characters?

I think maybe gta v

I still think about how happy I was to see the Vs games be available again after so many years. I am also excited for the CvS titles to come back, but I have more of a soft spot for the early Marvel titles.

Of course, that one's a re-release of games. For a new release, that goes to:

Shiren 6's announcement, 13 years after the last installment's release in Japan.

Shiren is a delightful roguelike, and a classic series that is normally overshadowed by Chunsoft's other, more popular licensed Mystery Dungeon titles. I was ecstatic to see the series return after thoroughly enjoying my time with Shiren 5.

Dynasty Warriors 8, followed by gta v. Those are my two go to choices. Nothing was quite replicated. I really wish I’d re experience a similar moment but nothing really matched those. Warriors Orochi 3 as well.

I think the last time I was really, really excited for a game was back when Vanilla Persona 5 was going to launch. I had a PS3 that stopped working a bit before the release of the game and after that I kind of made a personal rule of not getting excited about any new game because I just couldn't afford them (or the consoles)

Recently that changed though and since I got a PS5 I was excited for MH wilds like as if I was in my younger days

Probably Resident Evil: Village. It pretty much delivered.

I was iffy on the Resident Evil 4 remake, but it actually came out all right.

I might have been exited for Starfield, but I'm a little traumatized after spending $60 on that waste.
