When was the last time you were excited for a game release?

Being a big fan of the Alien franchise: Aliens Colonial Marines... after getting so many bad reviews I ended up not buying it lol... but man, I really liked the cinematic trailer. : )

I bought it for 1 bucks and got the overhaul mod fix by TemplarGFX. If you're an Aliens fan, get it for free on the seven seas and play it, it's certainly not worse compared to what modern gaming has become, and several sets of the movie are recreated in the game.

Last time I was really hyped and expecting the release of a new game it was with Tekken 7.

I booked the "Ultimate Edition", but sadly it was not so "Ultimate" because of the second, third and fourth season passes which were not included within the 100 bucks I paid... 🤑(n)

Despite it, the game fullfilled my expectations and I really enjoyed the story (first time we got the main plot of the entire Tekken saga) 😮, the new gameplay and mechanics 👍, the progress since vanilla game to the final version 🙂 and the online matches, except for the tourneys mode, where most of the times happened that when the player host was eliminated he/she RQ and closed the entire room making it impossible to continue to the rest of the players alive... 🤬

And of course, since then I don't rely anymore on day one "Ultimate Edition" releases... :cautious:

SMT V

I rarely buy new games the week of their release, but SMT V was one of the few exceptions. Unfortunately, the game didn't do much for me. I stopped right around the part where Lahmu shows up in the school and stopped playing.

I did actually play and beat the game when SMT V Vengeance came out and enjoyed it more than last time. Still liked the other games in the series more even though the game has plenty of good qualities.

Shin Sakura Taisen.

I thought Sega stopped caring after the last game, 10 years of nothing, despite it's relevancy in Japan (way WAAAYY more than Sonic, to say it is arguably the most successful Sega IP there is an understatement), all we ever got is the yearly Kayou shows and nothing for the games.

I remembered it clearly, March 29th 2019, I watched Sega livestream announcing all their new projects and said they have a surprise in the end.
Sure enough they released a teaser, another Persona, I groaned...
Then the cherry blossom petal hits.
Then the Taisho era timecard.
Then the Imperial Tokyo mentioned.
Then the THEME!
I literally shoot up of my seat and fucking scream in joy, not just me, even all the audience who's been sitting for the last 50 minutes stood up, roars and give applause before the intro even finished. Kohei Tanaka name appeared on screen and I can hear the all-star casts, then they show the new Koubu, it was a magical moment. Can't sleep that night because I'm too excited.

I pre-ordered the limited edition right after it's announced (and the regular English release since I can't read Japanese so yeah I have 2 of these), I find it really cool they distribute special PS4 theme for old fans by using the Taisho newsletter email from way back in early 2000s, I still use it to this day to flex at people ("See this shit right here? You won't find it on PS Store").
This is also the last game I platinumed in single sitting, almost 26 hours total.

Monster Hunter Wilds, so I guess it was like as recent as can be, lol.

Last time will be the upcoming May 29 2025, when CyberConnect2 will release FUGA: Melodies of Steel 3.

Tekken 6, because I actually played the early arcade version that was still missing Miguel, when the game didn't have Bob and played closer to Tekken Dark Ressurection with better graphics.

DMC5

It's one of a kind character action game. So glad to see it conclude, after 11 years.
