What's your favorite YouTube channels?

there used to be a YT channel that had a live camera setup pointing towards a small homeless encampment somewhere in America, i used to check up on these bums every night to see the crazy shit they do. Even had nick names for some of them, it was pretty good entertainment but the channel got shut down eventually.

[T6]. Lazy masquerade, Bailey sarian, dire trip and Mr ballen. ???

I'll put a list of some of my favourites with links and a short description of each.

Jeremy Parish (Author, videographer and professional video game Historian.)
Red Letter Media (Old men making movie reviews and comedy skits.)
Vwestlife (A soft-spoken man who does in-depth videos about very mundane tech.)
FutureCanoe (Cooking channel that specialises in cursed recipes and trying to recreate food from TikTok.)
karameru (Japanese animator who creates short comedy skits with his original cast of characters.)
Solar Sands (Video essayist who talks a lot about different artists and what their art means to him.)
WiggleWood (Animator who creates fantasy themed comedy skits styled like old PC adventure games.)
ClassicsOfGame (Dead channel. lots of funny short clips of bizarre old games. Random and nonsensical.)
takena (Independent Japanese animator who makes violent stop-motion films about monsters.)
lasagnacat (Dead channel. Garfield parody videos with insanely high production quality.)
murau (Japanese animator who makes very charming videos about a trio of cat girls.)
PilotRedSun (Dead channel. Trippy animations that make great use of bizarre looking video effects.)
I saw that you liked Red Letter Media, lasagnacat and PilotRedSun and so I had to check out the other ones. I can happily say that I enjoyed all the suggestions

I'll see if I can recommend things that haven't already been listed.

Vinny Vinesauce's channel, (Vinesauce: The Full Sauce)
Warlockracy
Townsends (a cozy historical reenactment channel)
Ashens
J1mmy
Lazy Game Reviews
martincitopants
Richter Overtime
Summoning Salt
PEAK Football
Chinese Cooking Demystified
Tasting History
Deep Look (A PBS youtube channel featuring nature videos of incredibly small animals and plants)

EmpLemon - Banger analysis and history videos on whatever topic he feels like that day. Sometimes it's how memes affect politics, sometimes it's video games, sometimes it's NASCAR, sometimes it's the psychology and history of rare collectables, but he makes anything sound interesting even when you normally wouldn't give the slightest fuck.
Gmanlives - Laid back Aussie game reviewer and one of my inspirations. Specializes in but not limited to shooters.
Tasting History with Max Miller - Cooks historical meals and tells you the history behind them. Facinating!
Mental Outlaw - Linux and tech privacy Youtuber. Sometimes does cooking and farming vids too. Bit of a memelord.
J.J. McCullough - Videos about US culture and things related to it, both in serious discussions about democracy and lighter stuff like the history of different sodas. Has interesting perspectives as a Canadian conservative.
Todd in the Shadows - Music reviews and retrospectives. His "Trainwreckords" series covering the failure of old albums is so cool. He's also good for staying somewhat up to date on current pop music trends if you aren't normally in the loop.
TheCHR83 - Another music reviewer similar to Todd. Specializes in ranking charting hits from a particular year, month, and day.
Wendover Productions - God tier documentary and educational material.
PhantomStrider - A very kind and wholesome ranking Youtuber. Used to specialize in cartoons, but has branched out into culture, weird products, and food. Glad he was able to crowdfund his channel via Patreon.

RedLetterMedia, of course
LazyGameReviews, of course, also
Ashens when he still posted regularly
GrimBeard is so good I don't even care about his braindead left coast political opinions occasionally sneaking their way in
SethTzeentach is an amazing reviewer, and I'm not sure how he gets away with the jokes he makes
EmptyHero is a legend but a lot of you will probably hate him if you're not already fans
kenny lauderdale, amazing anime channel
Mitten Squad, RIP
Atrocity Guide, incredible documentaries in a beautiful voice

There's also a channel called brahkie I just found a few days ago, but I expect many of you may like it. She appears to be a zoomer girl meticulously aping the style of videos from the late 2000s and it's pretty effective.

You're welcome, hope I gave you something to watch k byeeeee

Rinse Repeat is really good, but I don't know if you know that there's an entire ecosystem of YT channels that stream VHSrips of 80s/90s TV shows with commercials.
EmptyHero is fucking hilarious to me, but I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old edgelord on Xbox Live. His humor definitely isn't for everyone and I don't expect it to be. I do think he takes his VRChat trolling too far with how he talks to minors, even if it's intended as a joke. There's a time and place for everything.

LGR is probably my favorite, other than that I don’t really think too much about particular channels, especially since I’m not a huge fan of the modern video essay format.
Orchestral Fantasy and moonbowmusicmovie for video game music renditions. And ocremix I suppose.

Also the Jerma Archive if that counts, because he’s the only streamer I watch but I’m European so I can’t catch his streams live.

  • Fake Documentary Q: The best "Youtube horror" project by a mile. Japanese but subtitled.
  • That Video Games Show: Perfect background noise. Learned about a lot of obscure games.
  • Noisy Pixel: My go-to for video game news and reviews.
  • TL;DR Daily: Good quick way to catch up on current events.
  • should be asleep: High-quality uploads of obscure ambient music.
  • Super Best Friends Compilations: I used to watch these guys in school. I put these on sometimes.

Matthewmatosis is the only Youtuber i truly respect and frequently watch. I also like Tehsnakerer but in some of his videos he falls for the classic video essay trap of just giving a synopsis of the games plot for long periods of time instead of talking about anything that's actually interesting or deep about the subject at hand.

Lately I've been really into this dude Retrobird! He captures a lot of what was so magical about the first seasons of Scott The Woz to me, but with an extra injection of dad humor and love for the Neo Geo. He rules!
Nerrel is also forever my beloved.

Vinesauce Vinny
Vinesauce Joel
WoolieVS
Matt McMuscles
Summoning Salt
VersusWolfs
Civvie11
Oney Plays
About a million different Vocaloid producers

And a bunch more that escape me at the moment.

  • Trash Taste and related channels (Abroad In Japan, CDawgVA, The Anime Man): all useful for keeping up with various aspects of Japanese life
  • Fact Fiend: Well made video essays (alone with whatever else comes to mind in the middle of it) on various subjects
  • Lindsay Ellis: Former underling of The Nostalgia Critic who became way better than her old boss at analyzing media, doing at an academic level what he could only do at a jokey quasi-amateur level. Too bad she doesn't post too often these days.
  • Pitch Meeting: Ryan George's humor is better on this subchannel than on his main channel.
  • ProZD: Probably one of the few people on YouTube who does shorts that are actually funny. His "let's try" videos are interesting as well (though internet idiots are ruining it for everyone).
  • R3 Music Box: Various songs remade as music box midis.
  • Trash Theory: Best popular music history channel on YouTube. If you like rock music, you owe it to yourself to watch this.
  • Vampire Robot: What if YouTube was available in the decades before it was? The subjects are mundane but quite often something that you wouldn't see anymore, at least not in the same way.
  • Hololive (70+ channels): Wifus playing games. Good for discovering and previewing games as well as jonesing for anime 80085.

Penguinz0 is honestly one of the most respectable YouTubers I can think of. They are awesome.

SsethTzeentach, HappyConsoleGamer and VaatiVidya are some of my favorite ones that came to mind.

Angry Video Game Nerd is my all time favorite, and comfort show

I also like Under The Mayo, Shredded Nerd, TheGamingBrit, Angry Joe, old JonTron, and Devin Chase in the game sphere

Non-gaming, I watch the Holt Cigar Company channel, Cigars Daily, Dry Creek Wrangler School, ShoeOnHead, modern JonTron, and Just Some Guy
