N64 What's your favorite Nintendo 64 games?

ocarina of time of course! i also used to love dk 64 although its been a while since i played.

Mystical Ninja Goemon. Could play that anyday

I didn’t really play many N64 games, since I discovered the console quite late, being originally a PS1 player. But here are my picks:
  • Diddy Kong Racing : better than Mario Kart thanks to the adventure mode
  • GoldenEye 007 : the best James Bond game on N64
  • Banjo-Kazooie : better than Mario
  • Ocarina of Time : a classic and the best Zelda on N64

Conker's Bad Fur Day
Mischief Makers
Resident Evil 2
Starcraft
Star Fox 64

  • Super Mario 64 (replayed on an actual N64 felt so much satisfying and fun to 100%)
  • Banjo Kazooie (comes very very close to SM64 as you can expect)
  • Super Smash Bros. (the best videogame cross-over of all time IMO)
  • The Zelda duology (especially Majora's Mask, but ofc OoT comes very very close)
  • Mario Party 3 (Waluigi, my beloved)
  • Mario Kart 64 (although the jank and physics can make the game both hilarious and very frustrating at the same time. Also CPUs cheating on GP with an already unstable game is a pain in the ass. But god if I love everything else)
  • Pokémon Stadium 2 (battles are awesome and full of personality unlike most of modern main Pokémon games, and the minigames are chef kisses)
Yeah, overall these for me ARE the N64 games. There are other I appreciated, like ofc Goldeneye, Doom 64, Mario Party 1 and 2 even if with their huge issues and others.

Also forgot Sin and Punishment. Absolutely had to mention it.

I’m absolutely new to N64 console.
Which couch multiplayer games could you recommend?

Obvious choice would be Mario etc, ports from other systems like Worms. But maybe there’s some more?

Party games: Mario Party trilogy (even if with MP1 you will have a horrid time mashing the controller lmao), the Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2 and Banjo Tooie minigames. Also the Kirby 64 ones to a very limited extend.
FPS: Goldeneye, Perfect Dark
Racing Games: Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, F-Zero X

Goldeneye 007
Super Mario 64
Starfox 64
Perfect Dark
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
And I wish there was a Castlevania game to put on this list but Legacy of Darkness and the original version of Castlevania 1999 were complete trash. I love Castlevania but the Nintendo 64 just didn't get job done with the Castlevania games.

Classic but solid list.

Yeah sadly. I dunno why they couldn't have done a 2D one.

Only Goldeneye supports 3 players (split screen versus mode) here. Am I right or not? Because they are listed as 4 players friendly for Switch, but I’m not sure about N64 actual roms.
Also I’m a bit confused about what I have read elsewhere, like if exactly 4 players mode is available for multiplayer, not less.
All is competitive, yeah?

Sorry, I’m stupid.
Every N64 game cover shows number of players supported, it is so convenient.
Why all other console game boxes doesn’t have this?!

Some favorites:
Gauntlet Legends
Harvest Moon 64
Ogre Battle 64 - Person of Lordly Caliber

Majora's Mask. I could say that it has shaped my taste for games in general, probably the reason I love strong atmospheres so much.

Goldeneye 007
97 was a year to remember.
Personally I like a few N64 games better than Goldeneye.
However none of those games gave me have the experiences or the friends that Goldeneye did.

Some of my favorites in no particular order are Donkey Kong 64, Super Mario 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Bomberman Hero, WWF No Mercy, F-Zero X, Mario Party 3 and Banjo-Kazooie.

You know what? I have recently found an emulator that sorta, kinda makes N64 games much more playable than they ever were and I took the opportunity to scratch an itch I have been having since first laying my eyes on the console.

I didn't actually like many of the library's 'top dogs' (although, Banjo-Kazooie was truly excellent), but straying a bit farther away from the usual crowd of celebrated titles really did deliver... Rampage: World Tour, Roadsters, Road Rash 64, Buck Bumble, Quest 64, Space Station Silicon Valley, Harvest Moon 64 and, of course, Mischief Makers made me really excited to keep digging there.

I even enjoyed the one that was developed by actual vampires... You know, Doom 64 :P and stuff I couldn't really read like Custom Robo.

Very pleased, even if my human hands couldn't really understand or adapt to that nightmare of a joystick XD

The Legend of Zelda Ocarina Of Time.
Might be basic but it's my most played game on the system.

super mario 64

first n64 game i ever played. back when i was super young.
