so arcade style games?
I'm partial to space invaders. I like the Atari 800 version specifically, as it's the one I grew up with.
There are tons of simple arcade games:

Space Invaders
Pac-Man
Ms Pac-Man
Moon Patrol
Missile Command
Asteroids
Galaga
Galaxian
Dig Dug
Centipede
Rampage
Bubble Bobble
Donkey Kong
Mario Bros
Frogger

Older console games:

Tetris
Dr Mario
River Raid
Pitfall
Keystone Kapers

There was a lot of offerings on old windows versions as well:

Space Cadet Pinball
Chip's Challenge
Rodent's Revenge
Ski Free
Pipe Dream
Jezzball
Minesweeper
various solitaire versions

more random ones:

Chuzzle
Cubis 2 (one of my favorites. very addictive)
Bejewled
Candy Crush
Zuma
Subway Surfers (and all the similar runner games)

There's a lot out there. Especially mobile games.

Since vampire survivor is already mentioned, i am going to mention desktop survivors 98. Its survivors type game but played on your desktop and everything is classic windows themed!. Your mouse cursor is the survivor and you move it around dodging enemies. Very frantic compared to the average vampire survivors run but genius and worth giving a try!

Magic Jewelry.

Pac-Man Championship Edition.

Super Mario Land.

Plants vs Zombies.

Spider Solitaire.

Space Cadet 3D Pinball.

Bundinha de Isaac

Played a looot of every version of it, except for Repentence.
Never got the hype of this game. I mean I 'get' the game but I don't get people playing hundreds of hours of it

Vermin, which is on the modern Legend of Zelda Game and Watch and is featured in G&W Gallery 2 on GBC.

dont know if this is considered simple but bloons td6. im not exactly sure if this is simple since i believe all td games are somewhat complex, but still its a mobile game, its pretty simple and its pretty addicting, not much but 150+ hours on steam. i agree with solitaire too, its very addicting.
i think once you get the rules the sid meier's civilization games are extremely addicting too, i wasnt able to leave civ games for days.
i wish i could play all the games all the other commenters suggested, i think ill give them a try later.

Because it's always a different experience and you get some cool powerups that stack and mix. And after a certain point it just becomes a easier game to come back to and spend an hour on for a run.

Ok, that 'Vampire Survivors' thing looks dope as hell.

I wanted to say De Blob! but the fact the levels were so bloody long made it difficult to stick with.

I believe the first time i emulated it, i managed to fill all the Hi-score board names... AND ALL YOU DO IS PRESS DOWN!
