What's a game everyone loves but you don't like it?

I played Overwatch once before for a little while with a group of old pals, @RageBurner. And League of Legends with a childhood friend once upon a time.

They have been ex-friends for years now and I hate their guts. I know correlation doesn't always equal causation, and yet that still says a lot about MOBAs and other competitive team based games.
I have a similar experience. I had a friend who really hurt me and my friend group. They were also a massive Valve fan.

I’m thankful this didn’t stop me from loving Valve’s body of work… but I often think about it and it sends chills through me to this day.

Oh boy Persona 4, I'm not going to lie, I don't like this game very much either. I don't hate it as much as Persona 5. but in general I do not enjoy this game at all, I find the character arcs of the Investigation Team (with the exception of Kanji) very poorly written (especially Naoto, Yukiko and Rise) and in general I find the main characters incredibly irritating (except for Kanji of course) and the comedy is incredibly unfunny. At least some secondary characters such as Ai Ebihara, Daisuke Nagase, Kou Ichijo, Hisano Kuroda, The Dojima Family and the main villain Tohru Adachi are great and are the reason why I didn't drop the game. I know that Persona 4 is infamous for having some of the worst discourse on the internet. But I feel a certain discomfort with the way the game explores its themes and I really wanted to like this game but unfortunately I didn't like it very much.

Forewarning: the less I talk about my sexuality, the better. Let's just say that the internet isn't that big, and the kinds of erotica I like these days do have a plot and fun characters attached. One's a "quest" type story, and the other are a series of casual fun animations on top of the erotica.

So like, my demi / aro ass agrees with you here. Substance is nice. I know some people like it when both games and porn don't have plot, but I like both of mine with it, thank y'very much. ;3
Right?! My brain needs that logical path or I'm not interested. I'll start visual novels and be like 'yeah he's okay, he's cute I guess', but then their personalities start to shine through and I'm like 'ok yeah he can get it'.

Took me years to realize that's not the norm. Blew my goddamn mind.

The good thing about these high precision platformers is that they tend to wear their design intent on their sleeves, so they are easy to avoid. While the term "frustration platformer" is generally reserved to a subset of these, to me they all blend together in one frustrating whirlwind of "no, thanks."

I'm not going to lie, I hate Danganronpa. I simply hate Kazutaka Kodaka as a writer. The series has interesting ideas and concepts, but I find Kodaka's character writing incredibly infuriating and uncomfortable.

Well basically these are the popular games i wanted to talk about, I won't be posting anymore bye.

I enjoyed Danganronpa more for the setting (mostly the first) but the characters are pretty cookie cutter and predictable for the most part. The class trials are pretty dynamic, though, a step up from the likes of Phoenix Wright, and the series has good music.

All that said...

Dangangronpa V3 was a major, teeth caving kick to the face of the fanbase and is extremely divisive. I hated the plot twists and the whole thing reads as disingenuous and mean spirited.

I've only played and finished the first two games (and unfortunately Ultra Despair Girls) but I know about the infamous reputation of the ending of V3 as I've been spoiled thanks to internet users.

I see. I tried to be vague, but I'm sad to hear others have already spoiled it.

FF7, Deep Rock Galactic, DayZ are the ones that my friends like and i absolutely don't get it.
also Pokemon Platinum
FUCK 4TH GEN POKEMON
(totally not related to the nuzlocke)

as much as I love the atmosphere of sinnoh and nhow much they went into horror, my first thought as a kid after playing red, yellow, gold, ruby and emerald was "why does it take 50 years to use a potion"

I actually like DRG's thoughtful balance of weapons and classes and to focus on teamwork, but I'd only play with a very tightly knit group I happened to know for a long time, not matchmaking drop-ins.

You know, I actually like Sinnoh in general. I would only bother to play again in Gen 6, and never again since.

Did I reply to this alreadyyyyy? If not, then definitely Final Fantasy VII (overrateddddddd) Earthbound, The Legend of Zelda and Castlevania... Maybe some newer ones like cuphead.
Lots of fire takes!

Did anyone else play with marbles? Or pogs and bottlecaps? Or am I the only old man around here?

I'm old but I'm not that old. That's like Winston Churchill levels of boomer games.
I used to play with marbles, hide and seek, tag, football and stuff like that. I still do if my pals are up to it, it's fun
