What was your childhood's dream job?

Game developer and/or comic book artist.

I studied Computer Science in university but the game engine/graphics stuff was too complicated for me. I still try to live the dream a little in the rom hack world or using pre existing engines. I also took some art classes in high school and college for fun, but I've recently started it taking it more seriously.

Delivery of carbonated water... lol yes, that's what I wanted to be when I was kid. It's because every week a guy came to deliver this in a truck and I thought that must be cool to go house by house meeting people and delivering what they wanted: .... carbonated water?

Well, my dream was to go unnoticed, do nothing and get by. Then I started studying law at university, later I graduated in philosophy, and now I have an administrative job in a secondary school secretary: boring and underpaid work, but not very stressful and with several unproductive breaks (which I use by peeking the smartphone and lounging 😴).

From when i played Super Mario Bros in my childhood, i always wished to be able to change it to my will!
Later when i played more games, i fell in love with making my own games!
My parents supported me and provided me with programming tools! 🚀
Now i'm able to both make games and hack existing games!
But the door that my parents opened to me, made me dream bigger and wider! while still maintaining childhood dreams too! 😁

A cartoonist.
As a child I read a lot of comics, and I drew a lot of my own. I had taken inspiration from my favorite cartoon characters, hoping sooner or later to be able to work for Disney and create one of my own. Or even a cartoon, or a movie.

I'm still writing one of my biggest stories, set in Italy. I've been writing it for 14 years, and I hope sooner or later to be able to bring it to the big screen as an anime, and onto sheets of paper.

I wanted to be a pirate. It never occurred to 5yo Clippy that a 17th century galleon would not only be incredibly difficult to procure but also wouldn't stand a chance against any modern navy. I suppose I could still try my luck in Somalia.

Or I could be content with digital piracy.

Yar!

My dream job as a brat was to not have any.

This remind me of Cesare Pavese.
Good luck in your writing stuff.

Comptroller.

....no I don't think I dreamed of real jobs, maybe some mix of Duke from the G.I. Joes and a Jedi?

I wanted to be a fire-truck.

It looks like you're struggling to establish yourself as a pirate. Would you like some help with that?

I feel like Guybrush Threepwood would have better insight on becoming a pirate than my namesake.

I live in a really rural area, and I actually barely remember wanting to work at the retirement home just down the road cause it was the only thing in like a 15km radius of my house. I also remember thinking how convenient it was that they have the cemetery literally on the other side of the road from it. 🙃

I wanted to be an astronaut for many years and fly the space shuttle. I'm still fascinated by space and briefly entertained the idea of studying astrophysics, but ended up going into graphic design and music instead.

In hindsight that was the better call since the shuttle program went down the toilet before I would have had a chance to be onboard. Still, space has yet to let me go.

A slightly more realistic dream job was pilot and tbh I'm toying with the idea of at least getting a glider license one of these days.
