What retro game are you currently playing?

Yesterday I made a new Quake installation to substitute the heavily patched one I had going. So I am often playing this game, new maps ever week.

Behold! Lightmapped water!
Did you ever think water textures could be lit?
The new Quake remaster doesn't support it sadly.

Is this IronWail or DarkPlaces?

The remaster is more or less keeping the original feel with a modernised gameplay.

This is Ironwail. vkQuake, QuakeSpasm, and JoeQuake also support it.
The remaster has a lot of community/QuakeSpasm standards implemented like coloured lights, sv_protocol 666, and was even updated to better support Arcane Dimensions. It's just the timing of increased adoption of lightmapped water that kept it from it, and it'll probably get it if ever gets updated by Nightdive again. The engine will support it, that is, not necessarily the official maps using it.

I just beat Valis for the first time. It was a blind buy (Off Ebay, not from LRG). It was surprisingly... easy. Almost lost every life to the second to last boss... she basically one shots you after a 2 second charge.

Dead or Alive 3. It is unbelievable how good that game looks for 2001. Not to mention a couple years later when DOA4 would be a launch title for the 360, that game would be one of best looking games on the system there too! Both with the same engine! Unreal.

Playing through a bunch of castlevania games, specifically the pre-metroidvania ones (I think people call them classicvania?) Beat the original on NES and started castlevania 3.

Then promptly re-started it but this time the japanese release cause I found out about the alterations to it and more importantly the better music that version has. Honestly I'd push myself through the difficulty cheesegrater of the NA release if it had the JP version's soundtrack lol.

Just about done with Chrono Cross while I also finished the story of Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Saturday.

Not sure if I should start on Suikoden or Legend of Dragoon once I finish Chrono Cross.

Mega Man IV Game Boy
The Mega Man World series are great but i think that the screen compresion makes them harder and thoughter to play than the NES games.
IV and V are the best two on the GB imo.

I've been playing DMC3 and dark stalkers
Also I'm very close to finish MMBN3
IV and V are the best two on the GB imo.
I agree the I is too hard, II and III are good but boring

How many Mega Man do you beaten? Not ironically i thought that you beat all Mega Man games.

I only beated MM1-MM7 and MM11
(and MM2 gb)
MMX1-X7 (without X6 and Xtreme 1 and 2)
MMZ1 and MMZ2

Dragon Quest II HD Remake, I love how the Quest part feels like a real quest and journey, even if the games are long. Almost done with it, getting the true ending. Enjoyed DQ3 HD, DQ1 HD and also DQ 2 HD. Interested in DQ 7 Reimagined as well.

Currently I am stuck between FFV and FFIV. Both for retroachievements. More stuck on Final Fantasy V because the achievement Im trying is a little difficult. Love the FF franchise though. Wanting to beat every version I can of every game.
