I echo the sentiment that it's kinda shitty to not buy indie games if you enjoyed your "free trial", but I couldn't care less if it's a big company that doesn't get your money. I will still buy from bigger development studios who have proven themselves though. But I've successfully boycotted buying games from several developers for awhile now and that list is only going to grow if companies like Nintendo keep doing unfathomably scummy things. I'll take the five finger discount in that case.
Retro games are no holds barred. Even though I own many physical games and consoles, emulation has become my main way to play them. Playing on original hardware isn't important to me and sometimes emulation can simply be better with fanmade hacks ironing out some of the rough edges of some games.
I do have a huge digital music collection, but I've taken to using Spotify as my main source of music as of late. I do still buy music if I can't find it on Spotify or if it's from a band I love and want to support.
Movies? Fuck film studios. Basing a film's success off money from theatrical releases is just stupid. Companies like Disney will not be getting a penny from me either. Finally, streaming services can eat shit. Rotating stuff in and out, making things only available in certain countries, being filled with tons of slop, $10,000 a month if you want to get every service, advertisements, etc. I pretty much only sail the high seas for movies. I feel the same about TV shows of any type, anime or live action or whatever.
Comics and manga and books? I guess I'd go physical in those cases, as long as it's not prohibitively expensive or takes up huge amounts of space. Reading books on a computer screen is just miserable, my eyes can't handle it.
So overall? I'm all for it. I support worthy companies or developers and everyone else can go fuck themselves. I live off disability and have way more important things to pay for.
